The Seattle Seahawks may be coming off a Super Bowl run, but the latest power rankings show just how quickly the NFL landscape can shift.
In Pro Football Focus’ post-free agency rankings, Seattle landed at No. 2, just behind the Los Angeles Rams. For a team that recently sat atop the league, the drop may raise some eyebrows.
"The Super Bowl champion Seahawks cede some ground here after seeing key contributors walk this offseason, including Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III, three starters on defense and offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak." Mason Cameron writes. "While those are significant losses, Seattle maintains a strong foundation in all three phases of the game, the blueprint to its championship run."
One of the biggest factors is roster turnover. While the Seahawks still boast one of the most talented cores in football, they weren’t immune to free agency losses. Most notably, Seattle moved on from running back Kenneth Walker III, a key piece of the offense whose explosiveness and consistency helped fuel the team’s success. Losing a player of that caliber is never insignificant, especially when it impacts both production and depth.
Walker wasn’t the only departure, either. The team's defense was one of the best in the NFL in 2025, and the team lost some key contributors. Defensive backs Coby Bryant and Riq Woolen walked away in free agency, which means Seattle will have to build that group back up somehow.
But despite all of that, you would think that the team that just won the Super Bowl would be the top team in the league in the power rankings, especially since the Seahawks were the ones who beat the Rams in the NFC Championship.
For Seattle, the focus now shifts to proving that last season was no fluke. If anything, the slight drop in rankings could serve as motivation. Teams with championship DNA often thrive when given something to chase, and the Seahawks now have a clear target ahead of them.
They may not be No. 1 in this ranking after free agency—but they’ve already shown they can be when it counts.
