The Seattle Seahawks made everyone's eyebrows raise when they decided not to tag running back Kenneth Walker this offseason.
After a superb 2025 campaign that saw Walker become the focal point of Seattle's offense, he ran through the postseason before being named Super Bowl MVP as the Seahawks were crowned NFL champions.
But now, with Walker's value at its highest, the Seahawks are fighting a losing battle to keep one of their best offensive pieces.
With free agency just around the corner, there was a glimmer of hope that the Seahawks might retain Walker, but at the numbers we've heard, some suggesting that a deal of at least $14 million APY could be forthcoming, Seattle isn't likely prepared to match it.
But the good thing for Walker, and a bad thing for Seattle, is that a host of other teams are.
Lorenzo J Reyna of Clutchpoints has named three perfect landing spots for Walker, and none of them are Seattle.
They are the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs and oddly, the Carolina Panthers.
We can see Walker moving to either Denver or Kansas City, as both have clear and urgent running back needs.
Kenneth would be at the top of the depth chart, and perhaps the cherry on top is that both the Broncos and Chiefs are considered legitimate contenders in 2026.
Plus, working with Sean Payton and Andy Reid is a good carrot, too.
Carolina makes less sense, as Walker would be going to a team still trying to find itself with Bryce Young.
Walker would be RB1, but there likely won't be a chance to compete for a Super Bowl, as there will be with the other two teams.
Still, money talks, and it will be fascinating to see how Walker and his representatives approach free agency and what sort of checklist they have for teams.
Of course, there is a chance that Walker lands back in Seattle, but that doesn't seem feasible if he hits free agency.
Denver and Kansas City loom as two good spots for Walker and will provide him with everything needed to be successful in 2026.
Good to great quarterback play, top head coaches, and the chance to be one of the stars of the offense.
Walker had a superb 2025 season, and now, with his price at the highest it will likely ever be, he can pick and choose where he will play his football in 2026.
But don't expect it to be Seattle.
