Fresh off a championship clash, Seattle could target a low-cost trade for New England’s rising playmaker to bolster their offense and alleviate pressure on Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
The Seattle Seahawks may have addressed several needs during the 2026 NFL Draft, but their search for additional offensive firepower might not be over just yet.
In a recent article by Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox, he looks at some of the guys who could be traded to new teams before the start of the season. Seattle was named as a potential suitor for Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte, who they just played against in Super Bowl LX.
Boutte’s situation in New England is one worth watching. The 23-year-old receiver has quietly produced over the past two seasons, topping 500 receiving yards in each year while carving out a consistent role in the Patriots’ offense. Despite that steady production, his future with the team is far from secure.
Boutte is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and there is growing belief he could be dealt for the right price. Reports suggest New England would be looking for a Day 3 draft pick in return, a relatively modest cost for a young player with proven NFL production.
That’s where the Seahawks come into play.
Seattle did not heavily invest in the wide receiver position during the draft, signaling confidence in its current group—but also leaving the door open for a strategic addition. Boutte fits the profile of a low-risk, high-upside target. He’s still young, has shown he can produce at the professional level, and wouldn’t require a major asset to acquire.
He racked up 551 receiving yards and a career high six touchdowns in his third year in the league. Boutte was also a very solid big play option, tallying just under 17 yards per reception.
From a schematic standpoint, Boutte could complement Seattle’s existing weapons. Jaxon Smith-Njigba had perhaps the best year ever by a Seahawks receiver, so a lot of eyes are going to be on him. Trading for another solid receiver could help him a bit by taking some of the weight off of his shoulders.
As the offseason continues to unfold, Seattle’s roster may not be set in stone. And if the front office is looking to add another playmaker without breaking the bank, Boutte could be a name worth keeping a close eye on.
