In perhaps the biggest free agency move of the offseason so far, Super Bowl LX MVP Kenneth Walker III left the Seattle Seahawks to join the AFC powerhouse Kansas City Chiefs.
So while Seattle just won their second Super Bowl in franchise history, they still have some work to do if they want to get back to the top of the mountain at the end of the 2026 season.
In a recent article by Bleacher Report's Alex Ballentine, he outlines one potential hidden gem draft pick that each NFL team could consider in the 2026 NFL Draft. For the reigning Super Bowl champs, he thinks they could go after Washington running back Jonah Coleman.
"Coleman is a 5'9", 228-pound thumper. He's not going to break off explosive runs, but he's a patient zone runner who understands how to get the yards that have been blocked for him," Ballentine writes.
To be clear, Walker had not yet gone to the Chiefs when this BR piece was written. But now that he has departed, the Seahawks are in need of running back depth now more than ever.
Over four collegiate seasons, he rushed for more than 3,000 yards and scored 34 touchdowns while also adding 87 receptions for 838 yards as a pass catcher. That versatility helped him prove he can contribute in multiple phases of an offense.
Another reason for taking a running back in this upcoming draft is that former backup Zach Charbonnet still does not have a timetable for his return from the torn ACL that he suffered in the divisional round of the playoffs.
While he may not possess elite long speed that typically pushes running backs up draft boards, Coleman’s physical running style, vision, and reliability could make him a valuable addition at the next level. If the Seahawks are searching for a potential late-round steal in the 2026 NFL Draft, Jonah Coleman might be a name worth watching closely.
There is no guarantee that he would step in and be RB1 for the Seahawks immediately, but he would absolutely help the champs recover from the departure of their star running back that they drafted back in 2022 in the second round.
