That's now two Super Bowl starters who will not return to Seattle on the Monday of free agency.

Seattle Seahawks safety Coby Bryant - one of the many free agent defensive backs on the team entering the new league year - has agreed to terms on a new contract with the Chicago Bears, ending his time with the team he spent all four of his seasons with.

Bryant's standout 2025 campaign ends with a world championship with Seattle. He now joins an emerging Bears team with a three-year, $40 million deal, league sources tell insider Jordan Schultz.

Reports indicate that Bryant had recently received a ton of interest from around the league, but ultimately he accepts Chicago's offer, which was likely far beyond what Seattle had in mind for the emerging defensive back.

With the "legal tampering" period of free agency commencing on Monday, Seattle also lost out on negotiations with Super Bowl MVP running back Kenneth Walker III, who is reported to be in agreement with the Kansas City Chiefs on a three-year contract worth up to $45 million.

Bryant was the Seahawks' fourth-round pick in 2022 and recorded all seven of his interceptions over the last two seasons (four in 2025). He's posted 17 career pass deflections, 227 total tackles and seven forced fumbles.

The Cincinnati product was an integral part of the Super Bowl-winning campaign, but he now transitions into a new phase with the contract that confirms him as one of the best emerging defensive backs in football.

Bryant, 26, leaves a Seattle defense that had been the NFL's best this past season, allowing just 193 passing yards and 17.2 points per game - the lowest in the league.

The 2025 season was just his second as a primary safety after initially being the Seahawks' nickel cornerback - the position he predominantly played in college alongside All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner.

According to ESPN, the Seahawks had been impressed enough to offer Bryant a contract extension when he was eligible for one last offseason, but "the sides were too far apart to continue negotiations."

His gamble on himself paid off tremendously with another strong season thriving at safety, which now earns him a large pay day in his first free agency.

With a $13.33 million annual salary, Bryant is now the twelfth highest-paid safety in the NFL. He joins a Bears secondary that also features $19 million-a-year cornerback Jaylon Johnson.
