The Seahawks have to add another running back for Brian Fleury, but is the draft the place to do it?
The Seattle Seahawks need to bolster their running back room; most know that, but how they do it is up for debate.
With the NFL Draft fast approaching, the consensus is that the franchise will look to add another piece to Brian Fleury's offense. But where?
Some mock drafts have the Seahawks taking Notre Dame's Jadarian Price in the first round; others have him going in the second round.
Then there's Arkansas' Mike Washington Jr., who could be on Seattle's radar.
The bad thing is this isn't a great running back class, according to some, with only Jeremiyah Love the bona fide stud of the draft.
So that makes the Seahawks' attempts at finding a potential starter tough, although some think Price can be one in the NFL.
Still, for ESPN's Ben Solak, the Seahawks simply have to fix their run game.
"Running back is the big issue that must be addressed, as Sam Darnold's shaky second half of 2025 was assuaged by Walker's breakout behind the ascending offensive line," Solak writes.
"It's a poor class for running backs, but Arkansas' Mike Washington Jr. is the sort of explosive creator in a bowling-ball frame GM John Schneider has historically coveted. He should be on the board at No. 64."
There appear to be only a couple of backs the Seahawks can look at as potential plug-and-play pieces for Fleury: Price and Washington Jr.
We have seen the Seahawks host veteran Najee Harris on a visit, so adding a proven piece to Sam Darnold's backfield could still be an option, especially if the Seahawks strike out in the draft.
The other thing is, where should the Seahawks draft a back if they like one?
Price has received mixed grades, while Washington Jr., according to Solak, is a second-round pick. It depends on how much the Seahawks value the pieces they already have.
Macdonald stated that everyone is sleeping on his running back room, so that tells me he isn't too concerned with its make-up, at least right now.
So there might not be a big rush from Seattle to draft a running back, and if anything, taking a flier on Price or Washington Jr. in the later rounds might be how the franchise approaches it.
But either way, a running back has to be taken. It's just a matter of where.
