Darnold has a new coordinator in Brian Fleury, and the pair have gotten off to a great start this offseason.
There has been a lot of change this offseason for the Seattle Seahawks, and perhaps the biggest has been the change at offensive coordinator.
Klint Kubiak is now the Las Vegas Raiders' head coach, and Brian Fleury replaces him, coming over from the San Francisco 49ers.
Many are unsure exactly what to make of Seattle's new-look offense, and we will likely get a better idea as training camp goes on, when we can see what is actually going on.
But right now, as OTAs continue, it is all about learning what Fleury wants to be done and how to do it.
Sam Darnold is, of course, the centerpiece of it as he will be tasked with bringing Brian's vision to life in 2026.
But how has it been with a new coordinator this offseason?
"Fleury's been great," Darnold said. "His command, his presence, the way that he installs it, with the run game, pass game, his command over the entire system has been incredible.
"I'm continuing, throughout these practices, throughout these different situations that we get in practice to be able to learn each other, kind of what he's thinking and calling it, and just continuing to get a feel for each other. It's been really good so far."
So Darnold is getting used to what Fleury wants and likes from his quarterback, but as we know, that is only half the battle.
The other half is learning what will be a new system for Darnold, and that usually comes with different verbiage as well. Something that can take time to master.
However, as Darnold explains, in what is no doubt a relief, things have remained largely the same.
"It's a lot of the same stuff, right? Fleury coming from San Francisco, but a couple different wrinkles here and there, to be able to get some of that same verbiage," Darnold added.
"So, it's been really good, though, to be able to get some stuff that he's been doing with San Francisco the last couple years, and how we could kind of incorporate that into our system."
Things have gotten off to a good start for Darnold and Fleury, but the true test will be when adversity hits.
But we are months away from that, and at the moment, everything is coming up Seahawks as the long road back to the Super Bowl has begun.
