Foster has been one of the shining lights this offseason, and now that he's been rewarded with a roster spot, the "real" stuff starts for the receiver.
So much is made of a player's journey to making an NFL roster, as it should, but as Seattle Seahawks receiver Montorie Foster Jr. is about to find out, the journey is only just beginning.
Having been one of the more consistent players all offseason, Foster - a "surprise'' in the sense that he as a UDFA rookie a year ago who was waived with an injury designation in August 2025 before jumping back to the Super Bowl winners' practice squad last winter - was rewarded with a spot on the Seahawks' 53-man roster, and now the proper stuff starts.
And Foster won't have an easy introduction into the NFL, with the New England Patriots first up.
But regardless of the opponent, it is clear that Montorie is ready for all the smoke that comes with an NFL debut; however, he's sticking to what got him this far as he prepares for New England.
"Yeah, definitely, I'm super excited," Foster said. "First NFL game, just going to stick to my process. Everything that I do day-to-day, just sticking to my process and then letting the results take care of itself."
Getting a role on the offense isn't an easy task, with Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp, Rashid Shaheed, Tory Horton, AJ Barner, and others set to command a lot of attention.
But that doesn't mean Foster won't get his lick of the ice cream; it just might be fleeting as the season begins.
However, he knows where he can make an impact, and the Seahawks expect him to, on special teams.
"Yeah, special teams, just play football," Foster added. "At the end of the day, just run and hit, that's the job. That's my job to do. To be physical, whether that's at gunner, playing the alley on kickoff, just being physical and just playing fast."
It has been a long offseason for Foster, but he has continued to stack good days of production, plus playing well in the three preseason games.
Having earned a spot on the roster, no doubt, it is a dream come true for the receiver, but the hard work now starts. Getting to the top of the mountain is hard, but staying there is even harder.
Playing good football on special teams will open up snaps on offense for Montorie, and that is likely his focus right now.
Just do your job and the rest will follow, which is exactly the mindset he's taking into his first NFL game.
