Foster Jr. has made the Seahawks' initial 53-man roster, and an emotional conversation with his parents was seen on Hard Knocks.
The Seattle Seahawks are now past one of the most difficult days on the NFL calendar, as roster cutdowns have been finalized.
For some, their NFL dreams have ended, but for others like receiver Montorie Foster Jr., they are only just beginning.
Going undrafted was a tough pill to swallow for the receiver, and for most UDFAs, that is a chip they carry on their shoulder for their entire careers, but Foster Jr. maintained his focus and played well in Seattle's preseason games.
Foster Jr. would haul in 7 receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown as he worked with both Drew Lock and Jalen Milroe.
And Foster Jr. was rewarded with a spot on Seattle's 53-man roster, and an emotional call with his parents telling them the news was something that the HBO's Hard Knocks crew picked up.
“Oh my goodness, it really didn’t hit me yet,” Foster said. “It feels like I’m dreaming. Y’all know the whole journey, everything, just going undrafted and just having that night.
“That was the worst night of my life, but I just kept working, and shoot, now we here, and we just on the come up, for real. So just got to keep going.
“I did it.”
So, the first part of the equation is now complete for the receiver. But the hard part now begins.
Being on the roster, Montorie is now expected to be a key player on offense and, more than likely, on special teams as well for Mike Macdonald's team.
Every offseason, there are hard luck stories on cut down day, but then there are ones like Foster Jr. who have had to go through the tough moments of not getting drafted, so they must do extra work to get noticed on the practice field.
But perhaps more importantly, they also have to produce in preseason games.
We often see players shine in practice, but then forget what they're doing in games, but that hasn't been the case with Montorie, and now his NFL dream is a reality.
How much game time he'll see is unknown, but he's gotten over the first hurdle that many fall at, now he's got to take his game to another level.
