The Seahawks' receiver room is in flux, but there could be a cost-effective option right under their noses.

The Seattle Seahawks' offense played second-fiddle to the defense en route to its glorious Super Bowl run, but there appears to be a desire to level the playing field for Mike Macdonald's team.

With Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the shining light in the passing game, and pending free agent Kenneth Walker, the star of the run game, outside of those two weapons, the Seahawks have a handful of "guys" at key positions.

Receiver Rashid Shaheed is a pending free agent, too, and it isn't known if the Seahawks will have the returner be part of the squad in 2026.

With Seattle having the one key passing target in JSN, there have been rumors that the Seahawks might be looking to add a quality No. 2 to help ease the offensive burden on Jaxon.

That seems reasonable, right? Give Darnold another decent weapon to attack defenses with.

But with so many in-house free agents needing to be signed, and then Seattle has to improve the roster, finding a quality No. 2 is tough.

However, ESPN's Aaron Schatz has one option, and the Seahawks don't have to look too far for it -- San Francisco 49ers weapon Jauan Jennings.

"This signing would achieve a couple of goals for the Seahawks," Schatz wrote. "It would give them a receiver to replace Rashid Shaheed if he leaves in free agency. Furthermore, Jennings is a strong run blocker and the Seahawks still want to be a run-first offense.

"New offensive coordinator Brian Fleury is familiar with Jennings from his time in San Francisco, and adding Jennings would bring the benefit of taking away from an important division rival."

Jennings has been more than serviceable for a 49ers offense that has been injury-plagued.

He posted 975 yards and 6 TDs from 77 receptions in 2024 and followed that up with 643 yards and 9 TDs from 55 receptions last season.

That is some quality production without the defense having to worry about a genuine game-wrecker like JSN.

Plus, Jauan's work with new Seattle OC Brian Fleury is another key thread to pull and could get a deal over the line easily. Although Spotrac.com has his market value at $22.6 million and a proposed contract of three years at $67.8 million, Seattle might get him for a little cheaper.

Seattle needs a running mate for JSN, and in Jennings, it could get a competent downfield threat as it chases back-to-back titles.
