The Seahawks saw several players try their hand at running back, but it was evident who should be the starter.
The Seattle Seahawks fell 17-7 to the Dallas Cowboys in their first preseason game at Lumen Field.
While the score from Saturday isn't noteworthy, more so which players stood out, and which ones didn't.
With a host of players out, including the starters, it was going to be interesting to see who could improve their chances of making the roster and who could improve their standing within the team.
Running back was one area of focus, with Jadarian Price out, as well as Emanuel Wilson and Jacardia Wright, as both missed practice time in the lead-up.
That meant George Holani, who is already firming as the starter for Brian Fleury, and others in Velus Jones Jr., Justin Jones, and TJ Harden to share the load.
And as expected, it was Holani who stole the show.
Rushing for 42 yards on 12 carries, Holani was nothing if not consistent on the ground for Fleury's offense, and he was put on ice for the second half.
With the Seahawks' running back room for some, a big question mark, Holani might have answered some of those as he got the majority of the carries in the first half as Seattle moved the ball well on the opening drive.
Granted, that would be its only score of the game, but Holani played a big role in it, as it was clear that he was Seattle's best running back against Dallas.
Jones Jr. rushed for 19 yards on seven carries, while Jones and Harden (four combined yards on three carries) didn't really get much of a chance to show what they could do.
Still, it is only one preseason game, but it already feels like the top of the depth chart is sorted with Holani and Price as Fleury's top two options.
What the depth chart looks like when Zach Charbonnet returns from his ACL injury will be another thing to monitor, but for now, it's Holani's show with Price coming along for the ride.
There will be plenty of teachable moments to come from this game for Mike Macdonald, particularly in the red zone, but when it comes to Holani, he only increased his stock as a potential starting running back.
