The market for Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker is heating up, but one team is being mentioned far more than others.

The Kenneth Walker contract saga for the Seattle Seahawks is following the exact path many expected.

The Seahawks didn't tag him, thus leaving two options for the franchise.

Either allow him to test free agency when the window opens, or sign him to a long-term deal before free agency begins.

And out of those two options, right now, Walker leaving the Seahawks is the most likely scenario.

Given that running back is one of the most easily replaced positions during an offseason, as we have seen several times, teams sign cheap backs on a $3 million deal, and they turn out to be adequate players (Javonte Williams with the Dallas Cowboys).

In  Walker's case, the price will likely start at $10 million APY and go up from there.

A host of teams are in need of a starting running back who can be a difference-maker in 2026, and we have seen rumors and reports that one team in particular has been linked with Kenneth.

And that's the Kansas City Chiefs.

Now here comes CBS Sports' Tyler Sullivan with his bold free agency predicitions and he has Walker landing with, that's right, Kansas City.

"At the NFL Scouting Combine, Chiefs GM Brett Veach told reporters that the Chiefs need to add explosiveness to their backfield," Sullivan wrote.

"The veteran certainly fits the description of explosive, as evidence with his 161-yard showing in that championship victory. He's the type of dynamic weapon that Andy Reid would love to get his hands on."

As the saying goes, where there's smoke, there's fire.

And over the last 48 hours, the Chiefs have been the team most linked to Walker.

The Chiefs have a clear need at running back, and don't want a cheap option. They want one who can be a true difference-maker -- that's Walker.

The Seahawks appear fine with allowing Walker to test the free-agent market, as his current value is likely too high for general manager John Schneider to consider, given the needs elsewhere on the roster.

That leaves a handful of teams to duke it out for Walker's signature.

And if we are reading the tea leaves right, Kansas City is the clubhouse leader.
