The Seattle Seahawks have a lot to figure out this offseason, most notably with the star free agents set to command big salaries.
But there is also the manner of moving on from players who haven't reached the heights the franchise had wanted from them.
Granted, sometimes it is out of a player's control; other times it isn't.
And when it comes to the 2025 play of young quarterback Jalen Milroe, he was simply behind a veteran quarterback who hardly put a foot wrong all season.
As such, in his rookie season, Milroe didn't even throw a pass, despite coming into a game three times.
Still, there is upside for Milroe, but the question of whether he is a good enough player to be Sam Darnold's backup and whether he is better than Drew Lock is up for debate.
As such, in what we think is an odd scenario, Bleacher Report's Alex Ballentine has the Seahawks sending Milroe to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a third-round pick.
"The Seahawks' success with Sam Darnold this season leaves an unclear path to playing time for Jalen Milroe," Ballentine wrote.
"The rookie has intriguing tools after running a 4.37 40-yard dash. The more intriguing path might be to offer up their third-round pick to replace the third-rounder the Seahawks spent on Milroe in last year's draft."
Now, that is an interesting proposal.
But not often do teams move off a drafted player after their rookie season, unless something substantial happens, and it didn't in Milroe's case.
However, we think the main reason Ballentine has suggested this is to give the Seahawks more draft capital, as the franchise, at the time of writing, has only four picks: one each in the first, second, and third rounds, before their last selection in Round 6.
If Seattle could get a third for Milroe, would they do it? Also, is Milroe the sort of developmental player Miami is looking for? He hasn't even started a game in the NFL yet, so it would be a dart throw at best.
It is an interesting proposal, but we get the sense Seattle and Miami will say thanks, but no thanks to this. Yes, the extra draft pick for the Seahawks is good, but the Dolphins likely want a better caliber of quarterback if they move on from Tua Tagovailoa.
