Diggs, after waiting nearly all offseason, has gotten an NFL lifeline.
Trevon Diggs has gotten another NFL chance, signing with the Seattle Seahawks to bolster Mike Macdonald's secondary.
With corner seen as a weakness by some, the Seahawks have been trying out players over the past week, and they settled on the former All-Pro.
With Diggs' time with the Dallas Cowboys coming to a somewhat sour end last season, he found his way to the Green Bay Packers with friend Micah Parsons to end the year, but that was a short stay.
This offseason, Diggs had to be patient, bide his time, and continue working in the shadows in case a team called.
Having had a workout with the Detroit Lions, Diggs' attention then turned to Seattle, but what made him choose Macdonald's team?
"The history, seeing what these young guys what the team has been doing, seeing a lot of young guys just coming together and just being a great football team," Diggs said. "I know a lot of familiar faces here, Josh Jobe, D-Law (DeMarcus Lawrence), just talking to those guys, they saying it's a great fit. Just everything that they have going here, I would love to be a part of it."
With Diggs working out by himself this offseason, it could be seen as a knock, given he hasn't had any real football-related activities, and he will likely be on a ramp-up period.
Citing the need to compete as a big factor in his decision to come to the Seahawks, plus the familiarity with some players and defensive coordinator Aden Durde, Diggs comes to a team where he hopes he'll fit in.
And when asked why he waited so long to sign with a team, Diggs detailed what went into his decision.
"I was just finding somewhere that felt like home," Diggs said. "Finding somewhere that I'll have opportunity to compete, have an opportunity to play, and just if it felt right. That's what I want to do to make the right decision for me."
With the Seahawks now giving Diggs a chance at making the roster and continuing his NFL career, it is all on Trevon to prove he belongs.
Likely to be a slow burn initially as the Seahawks get him up to speed, but the door of opportunity has swung open for the former All-Pro.
Now let's see if he can walk through it.
