Is this too high or too low for D.K. Metcalf?
Pittsburgh Steelers star D.K. Metcalf was ranked the 38th-best WR in the NFL by Bleacher Report's scouting department.
Metcalf is one spot ahead of Jayden Reed of the Green Bay Packers and one spot behind Ricky Pearsall of the San Francisco 49ers.
"Metcalf is a part of an NFL passing offense that averages under 200 yards per game," Bleacher Report. "He is one of the most physically imposing receivers in the league. He is an established big-body pass catcher with explosiveness. Metcalf's productivity has tapered off over the last two seasons.
"Regardless, he poses a dangerous threat to defenses. His speed, acceleration, and strength put defenders in conflict after the catch. He can either run past defenders or run through them for extra yards. Metcalf is still capable of taking over games with above-average quarterback play. He remains a good and quality starting receiver and playmaker."
Metcalf had 59 receptions last season for 850 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns in his first year with the Steelers. The 850 receiving yards were a career low for the two-time Pro Bowler.
Metcalf has played for the Seattle Seahawks and Steelers. He enters this season with 7,174 receiving yards and 54 receiving touchdowns in his career.
Metcalf will once again catch passes from future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers this season. Rodgers put up 3,322 passing yards, 24 passing touchdowns and seven interceptions last season. The NFL legend completed 65.7% of his passes.
"Since he was 50 years old and I was 10, we were kind of like trying to get used to the dynamic of everything," Metcalf said of last season. "He was in a new place. I was in a new place. I think right now, our communication is far beyond where it was last year when we first got to camp. He was at a couple OTA practices, so was I.
"I think we're just leaps ahead of the communication aspect, how we view each other, how we communicate on and off the field right now. That was the biggest step, the biggest difference that I seen from last year. And I think it's just only going to continue to grow."
Pittsburgh helped Rodgers this offseason by acquiring Michael Pittman Jr. from the Indianapolis Colts. Rodgers will target Pittman Jr., Robert Tonyan, Metcalf, Darnell Washington, Pat Freiermuth and Roman Wilson this season.
