Wide receiver Roman Wilson has been making a name for himself with the Pittsburgh Steelers this season.
After an impressive Week 3 showing for the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team came crashing down to earth in Week 4.
Pittsburgh now enters its Week 5 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts with a record of 2-2, with the offense looking for more answers. The Steelers have again been an inconsistent presence offensively, and it's caused all sorts of problems.
But one bright spot for the Steelers this season has been the emergence of wide receiver Roman Wilson. Wilson has given the Steelers some life on offense, with him helping Pittsburgh be much more dangerous while others have struggled.
Analyst Raza Umerani of NFL.com listed Wilson as a potential fantasy sleeper to watch for this week against the Colts. Over the last few weeks, Wilson has started to break out for the Steelers, giving quarterback Aaron Rodgers a legitimate weapon to throw the ball to.
And with wideout Michael Pittman Jr. now out for the foreseeable future, Wilson could see even more targets coming his way from Rodgers. For the season, the former Michigan product has put up 14 catches for 188 yards and two touchdowns.
Wilson has allowed the Steelers offense to spread the field more, giving them more options to work with. Pittsburgh has been waiting patiently for Wilson to finally break through, with the former third-round pick dealing with injuries ove the last few years.
But Wilson is healthy for the Steelers, finally showing why the team was so excited about his potential when they drafted him. The Colts have allowed the fifth-most passing yards this season, giving Wilson a chance to do some damage.
Wilson has started to develop more chemistry and trust with Rodgers, which could also bode well for him in terms of fantasy numbers. While Pittsburgh's offense hasn't been the best this season, Wilson could be heading toward being a top option for many fantasy owners, especially if he stays consistent.
For the Steelers, having another player like this helps take some pressure of D.K. Metcalf, helping to open up the field for everyone. Rodgers can still perform at a high level, but he needs his wide receivers to perform up to par.
This game against the Colts could be very telling for the Steelers, and this team has gone 2-0 to open the new year. Pittsburgh needs to get back on track against Indianapolis, and Wilson could end up playing a very large role in that if all goes to plan.
