The Pittsburgh Steelers could be looking to make some trades in the coming weeks.

The Pittsburgh Steelers sit with a record of 3-2 on the season after taking down the Indianapolis Colts this past weekend.

Pittsburgh's offense has been much better of late, with them carrying the team on the field. The Steelers' defense has been decent, but they have also seen plenty of lapses over the first few weeks.

Due to this, the Steelers could elect to add some talent, but the team may also have to sell off players to get more draft assets. As the Steelers' front office looks to potentially make some moves at the upcoming trade deadline, one name that could be moved is veteran linebacker Alex Highsmith.

NFL analyst Carter Bahns of CBS Sports mentioned Highsmith as a possible option for the Dallas Cowboys to consider going after. The veteran could net Pittsburgh some additional picks that could then be flipped in another trade.

Pittsburgh and Dallas have made three different trades in the last year and a half, so the front offices seem to be working well together. The Cowboys have a real need to address on defense, and Highsmith could be a perfect player to target.

So far this season, Highsmith has recorded nine total tackles (five for loss) with three sacks, playing in five games for Pittsburgh. The veteran linebacker has been solid for the Steelers, but if the team could get some future draft capital, a move could be made.

Highsmith has recorded at least six sacks in each of his last five seasons in the NFL, all with the Steelers. The veteran could be a good addition to the Dallas defense, and the Cowboys may be desperate to make a move like this.

This could bode well for the Steelers, driving the price up for a player like Highsmith. The linebacker has one more season left on his current contract as well, potentially adding to the price to move him.

Highsmith is scheduled to earn $21.1 million as a cap hit next season, but his production is more than worth the price. If the Cowboys want to make another move with the Steelers, someone like Highsmith could be a candidate to be traded.

This all remains to be seen, and the Steelers may elect to keep the highly productive linebacker for the rest of the year. But with the trade deadline coming up, anything seems to be on the table, especially for the right price.
