The Pittsburgh Steelers have been named as a landing spot for a Pro Bowl wide reciever.
The Pittsburgh Steelers offense looked dead in the water through the first two games of the NFL season, leading to all sorts of questions coming up around the team.
But in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals, Pittsburgh finally saw some life from their offense. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers looked like he turned back the clock, throwing for 292 yards and three touchdowns, leading the Steelers to a big win.
However, going forward, the Steelers offense will need to show more consistency from game to game if this team wants to compete for a Super Bowl title. Pittsburgh has seen its offense stumble time and time again over the last few seasons, leading to quick playoff exits.
But one way for this team to make sure that doesn't happen again could be to add more talent to the roster. The Steelers do have a few good wide receivers for Rodgers, but the roster could always use more help.
One name that could make sense for Pittsburgh is former first-round wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Thomas has fallen out of the rotation in Jacksonville, with others stepping up for them.
This has led to trade rumors to come about around him, and teams all around the NFL have been watching this closely. Pittsburgh may be a team that could use his services, and the Steelers were listed as a possible landing spot for the former Pro Bowl wide receiver.
NFL analyst Alex Kay of Bleacher Report listed the Steelers as a landing spot for Thomas to get his career back on track. The pairing does make sense, but whether Pittsburgh would pull the trigger to get the deal done remains to be seen.
Adding someone like Thomas could help this passing attack grow even stronger, with the Steelers needing someone who can help spread the field. Thomas broke out as a rookie with the Jaguars, catching 87 passes for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns.
But last season, he regressed, going to just 48 catches for 707 yards and two scores. Thomas has seen himself be pushed down the depth chart, and this could open up a trade for a team like the Steelers.
Putting him next to D.K. Metcalf and Michael Pittman Jr. could make the Steelers' offense much more explosive as they try to win a title. Overall, it could be a solid move for Pittsburgh to consider making, especially if the offense continues to be inconsistent from week to week.
