Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has made it clear once again that 2026 will be his last season.
The Pittsburgh Steelers were able to work out a second one-year contract with Aaron Rodgers during the NFL offseason. It was a move many anticipated after the two parties found success with each other in 2025 and made a run into the playoffs.
Shortly after signing his one-year deal for the 2026 season, Rodgers stated that it would be his final year. Some have wondered whether or not he could change his mind.
On Tuesday, July 28, Rodgers put an end to those questions. He doubled down on this year being his final season in the NFL.
"Zero debate," Rodgers said.
Just like the NFL felt different when names like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady walked away into retirement, Rodgers leaving the league will leave a hole for a few years. He is one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game. Not seeing him on the field will feel weird.
That being said, Rodgers is focused fully on closing out his legendary NFL career by leading the Steelers to a Super Bowl win. On paper, the team has the talent to make that kind of a run. A lot will depend on which version of Rodgers Pittsburgh gets.
Is Rodgers still the kind of quarterback who can power a team to a championship?
Last season with the Steelers, the 42-year-old quarterback played good football. He appeared in 16 games, completing 65.7 percent of his pass attempts for 3,322 yards, 24 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
Those numbers may not be the same level that Rodgers used to produce, but he showed that he's still capable of playing winning football. Unfortunately, Pittsburgh came up short in the Wild Card round of the AFC playoffs, losing to the Houston Texans.
Heading into his final NFL season, Rodgers' career numbers are a thing that most signal callers can only dream of accomplishing. He has played in 264 career games, completing 65.1 percent of his passes for 66,274 yards, 527 touchdowns, and 123 interceptions. Rodgers has also chipped in with 3,634 rushing yards and 36 touchdowns on the ground.
It will be interesting to see what the upcoming 2026 NFL season has in store for Rodgers and the Steelers. Regardless of the outcome, Rodgers seems to be very comfortable with his decision to retire.

With the end of his career coming up quickly, Rodgers seems to be locked in and happy with his career and life outside of football. Hopefully, that translates to success on the field in 2026.
