DeMeco Ryans discusses Jalen Pitre
Texans’ head coach DeMeco Ryans recently appeared on a podcast to discuss how much he misses Jalen Pitre. “We all miss him a ton. Jalen gives us so much flexibility of what we’re capable of doing on defense. We were able to stay nickel defense to whatever a team may throw at us, and we had our entire playbook at our disposal.” The loss of Pitre has forced Houston to plug and play players in hopes of finding a solution.

Tank Dell talks his comeback from injury
Tank Dell spoke to reporters about how he knew he was “back” from his injury. “When I got hurt. Yep. Had that mindset as soon as I got hurt. I’m gonna be back. In all honesty, probably like a month ago I was like ‘alright, there it go, it’s turning over so I feel good now.‘“ With the Houston Texans trying to find any bit of momentum after a slow start to the season, Tank Dell should be an important part of their offense.

Is CJ Stroud the future at QB?
Much of the offseason talk surrounding the Houston Texans was centered around the contract negotiations between the team and quarterback CJ Stroud. Well, after four games, that debate has shifted. Rather than talking about the number of the next contract, it is fair to wonder whether or not Stroud is the answer at quarterback at all. Fans shouldn’t forget about the incredible rookie season that Stroud had, but the problem is that those days seem to be so far in the past. Should the Texans move on from CJ Stroud after the season?

CJ Stroud on Texans’ urgency
Texans quarterback CJ Stroud spoke to the media on Wednesday about the team’s urgency on scoring drives. “I would say yeah, the 4th quarter production we’ve seen in this last game, we can do it in the 1st quarter, we just gotta be wanting to do it. We’ve had those conversations & I think we’re doing a better job now, we’ll do a better job at that. I’m a firm comment of being aggressive, stay ahead of the sticks, even if that’s checking the ball down. I believe you need explosives, sustaining drives for 15+ plays is really tough in the NFL, the more explosives that we can obtain the field a little more, the more aggressive we can be. We’re all a part of it, can execute the plays better, call it better, do everything better & I think we’ll do that.”

DeMeco Ryans discusses CJ Stroud
The 2026 NFL season may not have started the way the Texans would have liked, but head coach DeMeco Ryans still spoke highly of CJ Stroud. “I’ve seen a guy who’s been confident in this offense for having his second year in this offense. He’s done a great job also demanding from other players on offense. Being that leader that we need him to be. I’ve seen his growth in that area of really encouraging those guys around him”

Will Anderson Jr discusses the Bills pass protection
The dust is just settling on a wild week one loss to the Buffalo Bills. Will Anderson Jr spoke about the gameplan of the Bills’ pass protection. “I thought they did a really good job. That’s something new for us, the way they were moving the pocket, using pullers, then chips. Now we see how we’re going to get attacked. I most definitely think we’re going to get it fixed, gonna put some stuff in this week. That wasn’t our standard. As a defense and who we wanna be, what we represent, that wasn’t our brand of ball.”

NFL analyst speaks on CJ Stroud hate
Texans quarterback CJ Stroud has been a bit of a punching bag as of late. But CBS Sports’ analyst Evan Washburn wants to put that to bed. “I’ve kinda had it with the CJ Stroud discussion. I understand why there’s some question surrounding this young man, but he had a historic rookie season, & then the last two have not been up to that standard but they’ve been strong seasons. Yes, the playoffs were a nightmare, I get why there’s a little bit of trepidation, but it feels like he gets put in a category where we’re not sure if he can be a starter. I just won’t ever understand that. Call up Atlanta right now, would they like to have CJ Stroud as their QB? How about in Carolina, Minnesota? Even where it’s been is really strong QB play. There is a microscope on everything he does, from how he walks into a building to how he plays the position. We don’t root in this business, but man it would be cool if he could just put everyone to the side this year & ball out.”

CJ Stroud is betting on himself
Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud has been looking for a contract extension this offseason, and despite positive negotiations, Stroud has decided to hold out for the time being. Stroud is betting on himself, essentially saying that if he has a good season he should be able to command more money. The decision by Stroud is admirable, but will he play at a level that would warrant that type of money? Houston Texans fans should hope so, because if he does that would likely result in an excellent season for the team.

Bryce Young discusses their joint practice with the Texans
Panthers’ quarterback Bryce Young discussed their joint practice with the Houston Texans. “They got after us. I have a lot of respect for them, really good unit. We can grow from it. They got after us. They have a great rush out there. Great group. There’s for sure throws & decisions I want back, routes on the outside guys want back, cuts running backs want back, same up front, everyone feels that way about today. We’re competitors, we wanna win, again they got after us today & it’s not a good feeling. We’re only going to be better from a day like this. It’s gunna sting & it sucks in the moment.”

Will Anderson Jr discusses Kayden McDonald
Texans star Will Anderson Jr discussed his thoughts on Kayden McDonald with the media. “I’ve been really pleased with him. He’s grown a lot over these couple of months. Got his body in good shape, his mindset is getting there. He’s been leaning on us big time. He’s been learning the system. He’s been taking care of his body. We told him ‘we need you, you’re gunna be playing a lot for us.’ He’s taking that as a challenge. He’s gotten better every single practice.”

DeMeco Ryans loves the tenacity
Things in training camp have gotten a bit chippy for the Houston Texans. It was reported that Keylan Rutledge got into it a bit with Will Anderson Jr. on Tuesday. DeMeco Ryans, however, loves it. “Better be careful there, messing with Will Anderson, but no, I love it. I love the scrappiness of Keylan. His mindset is what I love. He’s not backing down from anybody, as he shouldn’t, I expect that from every player on our team. We’re not backing down from anybody. We just have to make sure we’re smart, especially in game, make sure we’re not that second guy.”

CJ Stroud reflects on Texans’ playoff loss
The 2026 NFL season may be around the corner, but the loss to the Patriots is still fresh for the Houston Texans. CJ Stroud had a moment to reflect on that playoff defeat. “System things, working with the oline on protections, pocket movement, throwing on the run was a big one for that game. Those are all things I attacked in the offseason. I really didn’t take a break, right after the game, I probably took like a day off & flew home & got right back to work.”

CJ Stroud opens up on contract talks
The 2026 season is inching closer and one topic of discussion is the contract status of starting quarterback CJ Stroud. Stroud spoke to Evan Washburn of CBS on Wednesday, “I really appreciate being here. Right now I’m focused on football & letting my agent & front office handle it but everything’s moving forward & seems like everything’s moving up. I’m happy where I am & I wanna be here as long as I can.“

RB by committee?
Many Texans fans are excited by the acquisition of David Montgomery. While he is likely to be a key part of the offense, NFL Network’s Jane Slater reports that the Texans will have Montgomery and Woody Marks split carries. Slater later gave some clarity on her reporting, stating that Montgomery will see a majority of the snaps. While she explains that this is the information as of now, things can always change. Marks was excellent for the Texans last season, so it’s realistic to believe he will be an important piece of the offense.

Is CJ Stroud being overlooked?
It is that time of the offseason, where football experts give their rankings of who they believe are the best in the league. CJ Stroud may be flying under the radar this season, but the Texans quarterback will be ready to prove doubters wrong. Stroud’s production has undoubtedly dipped since his rookie season, but with an elite defensive unit, he doesn’t need to put up crazy numbers. If he can make smart decisions and find a way to get the ball up field, then this Texans squad can help prove all of the experts wrong.

Dalton Schultz discusses his offseason thus far
While many NFL players are using the offseason to recharge or rehab, Texans’ Dalton Schultz is keeping busy preparing for the new season. “For me, I didn’t really have an offseason. I’ve been training literally since we got back. As much work as it’s been, it’s been refreshing. It’s allowed me to kinda feel young. When you’re young & your body’s feeling good, you pour everything you’ve got. For me this year, going into year 9, I was right back on that same plan.”

Expert weighs in on CJ Stroud contract dilemma
CJ Stroud often gets overlooked when discussing the top quarterbacks in the NFL, but one NFL analyst is buying stock. ESPN’s Benjamin Solak said of Stroud, “The playoff turnover thing drives me crazy. He’s been in the playoffs 3 times in 3 years. He’s been fine the first 2 years.” “if you’re a young quarterback who’s been to the playoffs consistently, you’re gunna get a big contract. The guys who didn’t— Trevor Lawrence, Tua— still got these deals because it’s so easy to argue yourself up to that level as a QB”

According to ESPN, the Texans and CJ Stroud are “nowhere close” on a contract extension, signaling uncertainty in Houston. Could the two sides be nearing an end? When asked if he believes he deserves a new deal, Stroud said “I think I’ve held my bargain up.”

Dalton Schultz is excited about the TE room
Mandatory mini camp is upon us, and Texans’ tight end Dalton Schultz is beginning to get excited about the current tight end room and Foster Moreau. Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Achultz said “I’m excited. We have a very well rounded room & a bunch of guys that do a lot of different stuff really well. I think Foster’s been a great addition for us, just bringing the energy, the juice. He’s like a classic Louisiana kid, chirping everything all the time & we need that, especially on offense.”
