The veteran safety climbed the franchise record books with a massive interception return, providing a spark for the secondary despite a heartbreaking last-second loss to Philadelphia.

Tennessee Titans safety Amani Hooker is now one of the longest-tenured players on the team, with all the roster turnover this offseason.

He has plenty of young players to mentor in the secondary. Next to him is fellow safety Kevin Winston Jr., who is in his second season with the Titans in 2026.

Then, there are cornerbacks Marcus Harris and Micah Robinson. Harris actually had a solid game on Sunday, securing one of the two interceptions thrown by Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Harris intercepted Hurts at a pivotal time late in the fourth quarter, as the Eagles were trying to run off as much clock as possible. Harris picked Hurts off with six minutes left, giving the Titans plenty of time to take the lead.

Robinson has been a backup for the Titans so far this season.

Hooker showed off his veteran experience on Sunday. In the first quarter, the Eagles got into the Titans' red zone. Hurts was pressured on third down and threw an interception right to Hooker.

Hooker nearly returned it all the way for a pick-six. He still put the Titans in a perfect position to score their first touchdown of the game.

Cam Ward eventually scored on a quarterback sneak.

Hooker's play gave the Titans the energy they needed. It also made Titans history.

Hooker is now tied for eighth in Titans history with Jason McCourty with 13 interceptions. It was also the longest interception return by a Titans player since Jordan Babineaux in 2011.

Babineaux returned an interception for 97 yards for a touchdown in a 31-13 win over the Cleveland Browns that season.

Hooker came close to scoring on a pick-six. He was tackled at the Eagles' 10-yard line.

Hooker gave Titans fans a scare this offseason.

At the beginning of training camp, he and right tackle J.C. Latham were both placed on the PUP list. Since it was the preseason, they could be removed from the list at any time, but it was still a cause for concern.

Luckily, both Hooker and Latham were dealing with minor injuries and were able to come off the PUP list in time for the first preseason game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Unfortunately, Hooker and the Titans weren't able to beat the Eagles and are now 0-2.

The Titans took a 20-17 lead late in the fourth quarter but gave the Eagles too much time. Hurts drove the offense down the field, and the Eagles scored a go-ahead touchdown with nine seconds left.

Hooker and the Titans now shift focus to the New York Giants. The Titans and Giants kick off this Sunday at noon CT on CBS.
