Beyond the Cam Ward hype, this rookie All-Pro shattered NFL records with 2,427 all-purpose yards and two scores, cementing himself as the league’s most dangerous special teams weapon.

The pick that people focused on for the Tennessee Titans in the 2025 NFL Draft was quarterback Cam Ward at No. 1 overall, which it should've been.

Ward was thrown into a difficult situation as a rookie. His head coach, Brian Callahan, was fired after Week 6, and he was coached by interim HC Mike McCoy for the remainder of the season.

He didn't have a lot of help at receiver.

His receivers included Calvin Ridley, Tyler Lockett, Van Jefferson, Elic Ayomanor, Bryce Oliver, Xavier Restrepo, Chimere Dike, and Mason Kinsey.

Still, Ward was able to finish with 3,169 passing yards, 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Ward obviously showed a lot of promise as a rookie, but Dike deserves some praise, too.

Dike was picked out of Florida in last year's draft.

He started out at Wisconsin in 2020. He had 1,478 receiving yards and nine touchdowns with the Badgers from 2020-23.

Dike then transferred to Florida and had a career year in 2024. He finished that season with 783 receiving yards and two touchdowns. He was a return specialist in college, and that translated to the NFL when he joined the Titans.

The rookie had 483 receiving yards, which was third on the team. He also returned kicks and punts for the Titans. Dike ended his rookie campaign with two punt return touchdowns under the guidance of Special Teams Coordinator John Fassel.

Those numbers are good, but it gets even better.

Dike led the NFL in all purpose yards (2,427), broke the all time NFL rookie record for all purpose yards, led the league in combined kick and punt return yards, was the first NFL player since 1952 to average 17 yards per punt return and 25 per kick return, led the NFL in punt return touchdowns, had the longest punt return in the NFL (90),  broke the franchise record for punt return average in a season (17.3) and was an All-Pro and Pro Bowler as a rookie.

Dike is an offensive weapon that the Titans can do a lot of things with under new HC Robert Saleh and offensive coordinator Brian Daboll.

However, his role may diminish in 2026.

Dike started at slot receiver for the Titans last season, but Tennessee decided to bring in veteran Wan'Dale Robinson from the New York Giants in free agency. Robinson has more experience and plays mostly in the slot.

Then, the team also added Ohio State WR Carnell Tate in the 2026 NFL Draft, who is expected to start on the outside.

Still, it's great that the Titans have a player like Dike on their side. He can be used as a gadget receiver, similar to what Deebo Samuel did with the San Francisco 49ers. He is also a great weapon to have in the return that can give the offense good field position or score touchdowns at will.

Even if he sees the field less this upcoming season, Dike is still a very exciting player in the organization. He will be a valuable asset for many years to come if he keeps this up.
