Concerns rise as star running backs Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears miss practice, joining an expanding list of sidelined players ahead of a pivotal matchup against New York.

The Tennessee Titans have been fortunate to avoid too many injuries at this point.

Ahead of the first game, only Keldric Faulk and Cedric Gray were on the injury report.

Faulk was recovering from the injury he sustained in the preseason, which caused him to miss a couple of games. He made a full recovery by the season opener.

Gray was involved in a UTV accident over Labor Day weekend. He got a concussion from it and missed the first game.

He was on the injury report again ahead of Week 2, but it was just a precaution while the team waited for him to clear concussion protocol. Up until Friday, it was just him and James Williams Sr.

Then, Cor'Dale Flott was on the injury report due to quad issues. Robert Saleh expressed confidence that Flott would play, but the cornerback was inactive in Week 2.

The number of players dealing with injuries increased on Wednesday, as we got our first look at the injury report heading into the New York Giants game.

Right guard Fernando Carmona was a full participant at practice with shoulder issues. Then, Flott was on the list again with quad problems, but he was a limited participant.

Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears were both on the injury report and didn't practice on Wednesday. Solomon Thomas was a new face on the injury report as well, landing there with knee issues, and was limited.

Williams was on it for the second straight week with elbow problems, but was a full participant.

Saleh updated the status of all these players at Wednesday's press conference.

For Pollard and Spears, there was no cause for concern. Saleh said that it was just due to ankle soreness from the weekend.

"And then Tony Pollard and Taj [Tyjae Spears] will be out today dealing with some soreness," Saleh said. "Ankle soreness. And then James Williams will be full."

Even with how many players the Titans have on their first injury report, it's not as bad as the Giants' is.

After Jaxson Dart's injury, it's feared he will be out for the season. Edge rusher Brian Burns didn't practice on Wednesday due to an ankle injury. Deontre Banks (calf), Shelby Harris (toe), Malik Nabers (shoulder), Tyler Nubin (calf) and Andrew Thomas (groin) were all limited.

Jermaine Eluemunor (thigh), Nic Jones (shoulder), Francis Maiugoa (neck), Micah McFadden (neck) and Greg Newsome II (rib) were the only full participants on their injury report.

Dart went down just minutes into Monday night's game with the Los Angeles Rams. Then Nabers exited with an injury shortly after. Burns and Thomas were also injured during the game.

We know that Dart is out for a significant time, but without him, that's still three starters whose status is in jeopardy for Sunday.

It looks like the Titans will be preparing for Jameis Winston to start this week. We'll see if it makes any difference as the Titans look for their first win of the year on Sunday.

Kickoff is at noon CT on CBS.
