While Robert Saleh publicly backs young nickelback Marcus Harris, signing veteran playmaker Kenny Moore II provides the experienced depth needed to stabilize Tennessee’s recently volatile secondary.
The Tennessee Titans have upgraded multiple positions this offseason.
One of them is cornerback.
Alontae Taylor and Cor'Dale Flott are bona fide starters on the outside. Taylor is moving to an outside corner role for the first time in years after being the slot corner at the New Orleans Saints.
The expected starter at slot corner for the Titans is Marcus Harris. Harris played in 14 games with five starts last season. He was a late-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Cal.
He recorded 28 total tackles and one TFL as a rookie.
Compared to Taylor and Flott, the one thing that Harris doesn't have is a lot of starts. Taylor has started 53 games, while Flott has 37.
Saleh and defensive coordinator Gus Bradley have both shared how much confidence they have in Harris as the nickelback corner this season. Still, there's one move I think the Titans should definitely consider as we approach training camp.
ESPN's Aaron Schatz detailed one last move that every NFL team should make this offseason. For the Titans, it meant bringing in veteran Kenny Moore II as a slot corner.
I think this is definitely a move the Titans should consider.
"Coach Robert Saleh and coordinator Gus Bradley say that they are confident in second-year cornerback Marcus Harris handling the nickelback role," Schatz said. "But why not bring in some veteran competition to push him during training camp? Moore was still above average in my coverage DVOA metric last season, and he has always been strong against the run."
Moore has only played for the Indianapolis Colts in his career. Plus, he's 30 years old, so the Titans wouldn't have to have a long-term commitment to him.
Moore is a veteran who could be brought in to help Harris adjust to playing slot corner more consistently in the NFL.
A little competition is never a bad thing, especially after how inconsistent the secondary was for the Titans last season.
L'Jarius Sneed only played in seven games due to injury. Then, Jarvis Brownlee Jr. and Roger McCreary were traded at the deadline.
Micah Robinson, Jalyn Armour-Davis, Harris, Darrell Baker and Kevin Winston all started for the Titans at cornerback in 2025.
While Saleh has shared how much he believes in Harris, his recent comments suggest that he doesn't have as much faith as he initially thought. He spoke to Voice of the Titans, Taylor Zarzour, and shared that we could see Taylor be a part-time nickel corner this season.
Now, this could mean that Harris would eventually start at nickel corner, but if he still isn't ready, bringing in Moore wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
You're getting someone who is way more experienced as a nickel, who has 132 starts under his belt. He also has 629 total tackles and 11 interceptions over his nine-year NFL career.
With Moore being 30 years old, I don't think there's a realistic chance that Harris loses his opportunity as this team's slot corner of the future.
The Titans could sign Moore to a one- or two-year deal and have him create competition in what could be a weak spot for the Titans this season.
Moore wouldn't have to leave the AFC South, and Harris could learn from an experienced slot corner. It's a win-win.
