Despite offensive struggles, coach Saleh praises the current backfield, calling it one of football's best. Yet, a top prospect looms, sparking draft intrigue.

The Tennessee Titans weren't able to do many things consistently on offense last season.

They had the fourth-fewest passing yards (190.6), third-fewest rushing yards per game (93.5) and third-fewest points per game (16.7) in the NFL in 2025.

This team needs help at a lot of positions, and General Manager Mike Borgonzi knows it. He recently revealed the Titans' draft strategy, stating that the team is focused on selecting the best players available, regardless of position.

After that statement, it's becoming clearer that Tennessee is targeting Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love with the No. 4 overall pick.

NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah thinks Love would be a great fit with Tennessee, too.

However, there's one problem. The Titans have a lot of running backs already on the team.

Tony Pollard will be the starting running back again, with Tyjae Spears and Michael Carter in the mix. Then, there's extra depth with Kalel Mullings, Julius Chestnut and Blake Watson.

Even with the struggles the Titans had in running the ball, Pollard finished with over 1,000 rushing yards for the second season in a row.

On top of that, Titans head coach Robert Saleh made it sound like he was already content with the team's current backfield, per Michael Baca of NFL.com

"I love our backfield, I love our running back room right now," Saleh said. "Shoot, Pollard dropped over 100 on us (last season), so I think he's pretty good," said the former 49ers defensive coordinator. "And then Spears has tremendous versatility as a three-down back, and they both play with a physical mindset. …I'm a believer in our backfield, and I think it's a group that can help our team. I look at our running back room as one of the better ones in football."

When healthy, Titans fans have seen what Spears can bring to the backfield. Carter is a special talent as well. However, Spears hasn't played a full season in the last two years, and Carter hasn't played a full season since joining the league in 2021.

If the Titans truly do stick to their mentality of taking the best player available in the draft, then Love would be a great pick. He brings versatility as a player who can help out by catching passes out of the backfield, plus he has the ability to break off long runs.

At the end of the day, the Titans will need all the help they can get to turn around a rushing attack that ranked near the bottom of the NFL last season. Love could be the answer for the Titans.
