Coach Robert Saleh provides crucial recovery timelines for John Franklin-Myers and sidelined rookies as the defensive line rotation intensifies ahead of the preseason finale against Chicago.
The Tennessee Titans have dealt with injuries throughout the preseason.
For the most part, the Titans have been lucky, and none of them have been too serious. Jaren Kanak (pectoral) and Jaylen Harrell (ACL) are done for the year, but the team has had minor injuries up to this point, mostly.
Two rookies were unable to play in Sunday's game against the Seattle Seahawks due to injury.
Keldric Faulk suffered a shoulder injury at practice in the week leading up to the game. Robert Saleh initially thought that Faulk's injury was a stinger.
Nick Singleton has been out since the San Francisco 49ers game with an injury. He's been working his way back from the foot injury he sustained at the Senior Bowl back in January.
John Franklin-Myers was held out of Sunday night's game. He has been dealing with back stiffness.
Saleh had updates on all three of those players at Monday's Zoom call.
For Franklin-Myers, the Titans expect to have him back at practice this week. He was held out of the game as a precaution. For Faulk, it looks like we won't see him again until the season opener.
"JFM, we're hopeful to have in practice," Saleh said. "We just held him out of the game, but he should be practicing on Tuesday. Keldric is going to be day-to-day. I don't expect him to be back this week, but he should be fine for the opener easily."
Singleton is also expected to be back at practice on Tuesday.
"Yeah, we're hopeful to get Singleton back this week," Saleh said. "Should hopefully get him back in practice on Tuesday."
Franklin-Myers shouldn't be in danger of losing his starting spot on the defensive line because of his recent injury. For Faulk, it could come down to the wire.
Jacob Martin has been the starter on the right side of the line where Faulk is so far. There has been a recent development with Truman Jones.
Jones has been playing well lately and just had 1.5 sacks in the 19-16 win over the Seahawks. It may come down to the final preseason game to determine what Faulk's role with the Titans will be this season.
The Titans wrap up the preseason with the Chicago Bears on Aug. 29. The joint practice will take place on Thursday.
It's going to be a crucial final preseason game for multiple players. Saturday's game kicks off at 5 p.m. CT on NFL Network at Nissan Stadium.
