As Minnesota eyes a new general manager, Dave Ziegler emerges as a prime candidate. His potential departure threatens to further disrupt a Tennessee front office craving stability.
The Tennessee Titans are no stranger to moving parts in the front office.
Titans President of Football Operations Chad Brinker was the latest to leave the franchise. There have been a lot of changes besides just him since 2022.
Since then, Jon Robinson was fired as General Manager. Brinker joined the organization in 2023 as the Assistant GM. Ran Carthon followed Robinson as GM.
Head coach Mike Vrabel was then fired after the 2023 season. In 2024, the Titans hired Brian Callahan as head coach, and Carthon was promoted to Executive Vice President.
After making risky contract deals for Lloyd Cushenberry, Tony Pollard, Calvin Ridley, and L'Jarius Sneed, Carthon was fired at the beginning of 2025.
Callahan was fired halfway through last season, and now fans have Robert Saleh at HC and Mike Borgonzi at GM.
With Brinker stepping down, Borgonzi now has the keys to the franchise. The time for stability is now, as the Titans are at a critical point.
Now, there is another Titans executive who could be on the move. Assistant GM Dave Ziegler has received an interview request from the Minnesota Vikings for their GM opening, per Sports Illustrated's Will Ragatz.
The role was previously held by Kwesi Adofo-Mensah.
"Ziegler is a fairly big name in the NFL executive world because he's already been a general manager in the league," Ragatz said. "In 2022, the Raiders hired him to replace Mike Mayock, but the pairing of Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels didn't make it two full years before they were fired on Halloween in 2023. Before his stint in Vegas, Ziegler spent nine years with the Patriots in different scouting and personnel roles. He got his start in the NFL with the Broncos before that. Over the last two years, Ziegler was a personnel advisor for the Saints and then spent last year as the Titans' assistant GM."
Ziegler joined the Titans in 2025 as GM, but has also spent time in various front office roles with the New Orleans Saints (2024), Las Vegas Raiders (2022-23), New England Patriots (2013-2021) and Denver Broncos (2010-12).
Being an NFL GM is nothing new to Ziegler. He has held that role before with the Raiders for two seasons.
The Titans have gone through a lot of changes this offseason.
In free agency, the biggest acquisitions were Wan'Dale Robinson, John Franklin-Myers, Alontae Taylor and Cor'Dale Flott.
Then in the 2026 NFL Draft, Tennessee selected Carnell Tate, Keldric Faulk, Anthony Hill Jr., Fernando Carmona, Nicholas Singleton, Jackie Marshall, Pat Coogan and Jaren Kanak.
The roster looks much different than it did a year ago, and another change could be on the way in the front office as well.
