Tennessee pivots toward training camp by cutting six veterans and passing on dozens of hopefuls, leaving 11 undrafted free agents to battle for a roster spot.
The Tennessee Titans invited college athletes from all over the country to attend their rookie minicamp.
I created an undrafted free agent tracker for all the rookies the Titans signed to their active roster. The UDFA signees included names like USC safety Bishop Fitzgerald, Illinois receiver Hank Beatty, Tennessee corner Jalen McMurray and John Carroll receiver Tyren Montgomery.
Outside of the UDFA signings the Titans made, 58 players tried out for the team. However, according to Titans reporter Paul Kuharsky, Tennessee isn't planning on signing any of those who tried out for the team.
The likes of Tennessee running back Star Thomas, former Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara, North Carolina linebacker Power Echols, Colorado and former Tennessee QB Kaiden Salter, and many others.
Tennessee now has its 90-man roster ahead of training camp after signing its 11 UDFAs and releasing six players. The Titans cut ties with edge rusher Ali Gaye, linebacker Nate Lynn, nose tackle Isaiah Raikes, linebacker Cam Riley, offensive guard Clay Webb and running back Blake Watson.
Defensive end David Ebuka Agoha was placed on the exempt/international player list and won't count toward the 90-man roster.
Gaye had the most playing time out of all those the Titans opted to cut. He played in 18 regular-season games, with most coming in the 2024 season. Gaye finished his Titans tenure with nine total tackles and one sack.
All of the released players were used as reserves during their time in the Music City.
Watson detracts from what is a loaded running back room for Tennessee. It still contains Tony Pollard, Tyjae Spears, Nicholas Singleton, Michael Carter, Kalel Mullings and Julius Chestnut.
It's hard to predict which of these UDFAs will make the active roster. One thing we know is that the Titans have favored receivers in previous years, with Xavier Restrepo and Mason Kinsey being the most recent UDFA wideouts to make the 53-man roster.
Montgomery is a great underdog story to follow. He didn't play football until 2022, starting out at Nicholls State. The speed of the college game took some getting used to, and he struggled to see the field.
He transferred to John Carroll University and put up some ridiculous stats for someone who got into football so late. He finished with 1,071 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns in 2024 and 1,528 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns last season.
Then, there is Beatty out of Illinois.
He just had a career-high 864 receiving yards in his final season with Illinois and could be another candidate to make the roster as a UDFA.
The roster is starting to take shape after free agency and the 2026 NFL Draft. Before we know it, the preseason will be here, and we'll start to learn about the final roster moves before the season.
We're one step closer towards Titans football in 2026.
