Titans reporter Turron Davenport shared his favorite for the player poised to make an immediate impact in his first season with the team.

The Tennessee Titans made the most of free agency with their league-leading cap space.

Prioritizing the quarterback and defense was definitely a focus of the Titans' offseason plan. The Titans added another receiver for Cam Ward to throw to in Wan'Dale Robinson.

Then, they gave him another wideout in Ohio State WR Carnell Tate from the 2026 NFL Draft.

On defense, the Titans made moves in free agency for John Franklin-Myers, Alontae Taylor and Cor'Dale Flott. They also selected Keldric Faulk, Anthony Hill Jr. and Jackie Marshall in the draft.

Tennessee is a much-improved team on both sides of the ball compared to the state it was in last season.

Of all the new additions, a case could be made that many could make an impact right away.

Taylor and Flott are going to start on the outside. Robinson is bringing his veteran experience as a slot receiver.

Franklin-Myers is a unique player.

He has played on the interior of the defensive line for most of his career. Still, he's been consistent in sacking the quarterback, a trait that not every defensive tackle possesses.

ESPN's Turron Davenport was asked on an episode of the "Titan Report Podcast" about which new addition he thought would make the biggest impact early. He didn't think long about his answer and said Franklin-Myers.

"I'm probably gonna go with John Franklin-Myers," Davenport said. "I think just the impact he brings alongside Jeffery Simmons, playing inside, outside, the familiarity with the scheme, his presence, you know, that 7.5 sacks as an interior guy, there's nothing to scoff at. And just having those two together, I think that's going to be a huge impact, and something that's going to help that defense right away. But, I mean, the argument could be made for multiple guys."

Like many of the players the Titans brought in this offseason, Franklin-Myers is already familiar with Robert Saleh's defense. The two were together at the New York Jets from 2020-23.

Franklin-Myers joins the Titans after finishing with 25 total tackles, 7.5 sacks, and six TFLs last season with the Denver Broncos.

With Jeffery Simmons expected to get a lot of attention, this could be a great opportunity for Franklin-Myers to benefit from 1-on-1 matchups in the trenches. NFL scout Brently Weissman even predicted that Simmons would benefit from Saleh's scheme as well, forecasting a 13 or 14-sack season in 2026.

A versatile player like Franklin-Myers is just what Saleh was looking for, and could be in for a monster season with the Titans if everything goes to plan.

With all the double teams Simmons is going to get, it'll just come down to Franklin-Myers winning his individual matchups on the line.
