Titans GM hints at multiple draft targets beyond the expected, keeping rivals guessing and securing flexibility for the No. 4 pick.
Ever since the NFL Owners Meetings, the Tennessee Titans have been linked to one prospect at No. 4 overall in the 2026 NFL Draft.
That prospect is Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love. General Manager Mike Borgonzi said the Titans plan to take the best player available.
This sounds like the Titans were all in on Love, or so we thought. Borgonzi changed his tune a little at the predraft press conference. He hinted that Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles could be a special player as well, while acknowledging how good Robert Saleh has been with star linebackers in the past.
Borgonzi backtracked further and shared that he believes Tennessee is going to have plenty of options no matter what the teams ahead of them do in the draft, per ESPN's Turron Davenport.
The Titans are behind the Las Vegas Raiders, the New York Jets, and the Arizona Cardinals.
"We'll be ready for any scenario," Borgonzi said. "If you listen to everything that's out there now, though, it's a lot of smokescreen. But certainly I think that we're going to have options there at No. 4, no matter what the team does in front of us."
Besides Styles and Love, the Titans have been tied to Rueben Bain Jr., David Bailey and Carnell Tate in previous mock drafts.
Everyone knows the Raiders are going to take Indiana quarterback and Heisman winner Fernando Mendoza, but what will the Jets and Cardinals do?
The Jets have Geno Smith, but he's clearly not the long-term solution at quarterback at this point in his career.
The true wild card is the Cardinals.
Arizona said goodbye to Kyler Murray in free agency, so one would think they need a quarterback. However, they have veteran Jacoby Brissett on the roster, who threw for 3,366 passing yards, 23 touchdowns and eight interceptions last season.
The Cardinals have other needs besides quarterback, so it's anyone's guess at who they'll pick.
Luckily for the Titans, they also have plenty of needs.
Edge rusher makes sense with the Titans still needing better options than just Femi Oladejo or Jacob Martin to start opposite of Jermaine Johnson. Linebacker would check a box, especially if Saleh finds a player with a similar skillset to San Francisco 49ers star Fred Warner.
Positions like receiver, interior offensive line, and cornerback are of lesser importance and would be used solely for added depth at this point.
Was this comment to confuse other teams on what the Titans' plans are with the No. 4 pick? Or is Borgonzi truly having a change of heart when it comes to the franchise's plans for the draft?
We'll find out in just under a week.
