King Henry's dominance continues into the 2020s. Discover the two key NFL statistical categories where he reigns supreme.
Tennessee Titans fans look fondly on the years Derrick Henry spent in the Music City.
He added to the premier pedigree of running backs that have come through the franchise. The Titans have had the luxury of great running back play, starting with Eddie George, then Chris Johnson and Henry both made their marks on the Titans.
George was a four-time Pro Bowler and is the franchise's all-time career rushing yards leader (10,009). Johnson and Henry both joined the 2,000-yard club during their time with the Titans.
Johnson rushed for 2,006 rushing yards in 2009, while Henry finished with 2,027 in 2020.
Unfortunately, Henry's time with the Titans came to an end after the 2023 season. He left with the second-most career rushing yards (9,502) in Titans history.
He then joined the Baltimore Ravens in free agency in 2024, and nearly rushed for 2,000 yards again, ending with 1,921 that season.
Henry is still a dominant player, much like he was with the Titans. Fans will never forget the 99-yard touchdown run he had against the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2018.
Statistically, Henry has actually been one of the best players in the NFL in two different stats in the 2020s. He is the current leader in rushing yards (9,185) and rushing touchdowns (84).
It has been some tough sledding for the Titans on the ground since Henry left. Last season, the Titans ranked third-fewest in rushing yards per game (93.5) in the NFL.
Regardless, Tony Pollard has been consistent since joining the Titans in 2024. He's had over 1,000 rushing yards the last two seasons.
Even with Pollard on the roster, the Titans could still use some help.
All eyes have been on Tennessee and what it will do with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. There have been many different players that the Titans have been linked to, with Carnell Tate, Sonny Styles, Rueben Bain Jr., Jeremiyah Love and David Bailey being mocked to the team.
Recently, General Manager Mike Borgonzi shed light on the Titans' draft strategy. He shared that the team is planning to take the best player available, regardless of position.
This suggests the Titans will take Love with the No. 4 overall pick. Love has already been compared to another Titans running back, not named Henry. The Notre Dame star was compared to former Titans running back DeMarco Murray.
Murray was able to create plays in the rushing and receiving game, and Love has showcased that ability very well throughout his college career.
There may never be another player like King Henry, but that won't stop the Titans from trying to find another franchise running back.
