After turning heads with acrobatic training camp catches, Tennessee’s rising rookie finds inspiration in a six-time Pro Bowler’s elite route-running and dominant scoring ability.

Tennessee Titans receiver Carnell Tate continues to impress throughout the offseason.

The Titans are in the middle of training camp, and Tate made another impressive grab at the team's blue and white scrimmage on Friday night.

He made a one-handed catch on a pass from Cam Ward with two defenders in the vicinity.

He hasn't done this in an actual NFL game yet, but the hype is definitely there for Tate.

He is a dead ringer for the Titans' WR1 this season, with Calvin Ridley set to take a step back after a disappointing 2025 and Wan'Dale Robinson starting at slot receiver.

After a recent practice at training camp, Tate sat down with former NFL quarterback Kurt Warner on NFL Network's "Inside Training Camp Live" and shared a current player comparison for himself.

Tate believed he has a similar skill set to Los Angeles Rams WR Davante Adams.

"Probably say Tae [Davante] Adams," Tate said. "He's done it at an elite level. He's one of the best. And he's continuing to go out there and prove it."

Adams has been in the NFL since 2014. He spent many years with the Green Bay Packers as Aaron Rodgers' favorite target.

Adams is a six-time Pro Bowler and three-time First-Team All-Pro.

One of the most impressive things he's done in his NFL career is the dominant stretch he had from 2020-2024. During that time, Adams had 1,000 receiving yards or more.

In 2024, he achieved the feat despite playing for two different teams that season.

He started the year with the Las Vegas Raiders, then was traded to the New York Jets to play with Rodgers.

After Rodgers left the Jets, so did Adams.

Adams then joined the Los Angeles Rams, where he is now catching passes from star quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Adams wasn't able to keep his 1,000-yard streak alive last season, but he led the NFL with 14 receiving touchdowns.

What's interesting about Tate's player comp is that he and Adams have similar builds. Tate is one inch taller than Adams at 6-foot-2. Adams beats Tate in weight, coming in at 204 pounds.

Tate measured at 192 pounds at the NFL Combine, but there's no doubt that the Titans will help him put on some muscle this offseason before he begins his rookie year.

No one here in Music City would be mad if Tate's NFL career is anything like that of Adams'.

The six-time Pro Bowler is a great person for Tate to compare his game to.
