Facing a looming roster deadline and trade rumors, the former starter fights for his spot as Tennessee weighs his fate against first-overall pick Cam Ward.
The Tennessee Titans have had a complicated relationship with quarterback Will Levis, to say the least.
Levis was drafted by the Titans in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Kentucky. He was projected as a first-rounder but fell to the second round of the draft that year.
Levis didn't start right away, sitting behind Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill was then benched for Levis in Week 8 of that season. He gave fans plenty of hope after throwing for 238 passing yards and four touchdowns in a 28-23 win over the Atlanta Falcons.
The Titans didn't win very much with him as a starter, going 3-6. He was then benched for the final three games of the season, and Tannehill closed out the year as starter.
Tennessee moved on from Tannehill, and Levis was the starter for the 2024 season. After an offseason's worth of hype, Levis underdelivered. He finished with 2,091 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
He also sustained a shoulder injury that required surgery in the 2025 offseason. As a result, Levis missed the entire season.
The Titans made their thoughts on Levis clear by drafting Cam Ward No. 1 overall. Levis has been fighting for a spot in the QB room this offseason.
He hasn't given up, declaring that there weren't 32 quarterbacks better than him in the NFL.
On Saturday night, Levis got the start in the final preseason game against the Chicago Bears. He went 14-of-22 with 143 passing yards. He was later replaced by Hendon Hooker late in the second half.
Levis has been linked to trades this offseason, and now his fate will be decided as the Titans face the NFL roster cut deadline on Sunday.
After the game, he wasn't sure about what the future holds for him.
"I don't wanna predict or talk about things that haven't happened yet, so I don't know," Levis said. "We'll get there when we get there."
Even if he isn't with the Titans by the time next week rolls around, Levis made sure to mention how grateful he was to the organization. You could tell Levis was fighting back the emotions.
"Very grateful," Levis said. "Very, very grateful. I mean, Miss Amy brought me in here and welcomed me with open arms, as well as everyone else here in Nashville with the team. Was able to grow a lot throughout the couple seasons we had while I was playing here. Wouldn't trade it for anything."
The Titans face a tough decision at quarterback. Mitchell Trubisky is most likely going to be the backup, but between either Levis or Hendon Hooker making the roster, it's not going to be easy.
Both have shown great things throughout the preseason, especially in that last game.
Levis left the final preseason game after a good showing. Hooker didn't play as much, but the offense was very smooth when he was on the field.
It will really come down to how many quarterbacks want to keep.
Was this Levis' last time putting on a Titans uniform?
