Surprise! JJ McCarthy makes the cut

Recent reports out of training camp weren’t looking too good for quarterback JJ McCarthy. But despite the pessimism, the former first round draft pick ended the day on the Vikings’ 53-man roster.

The Vikings will, for the time being, carry four quarterbacks on the roster. It’s clear that newcomer Kyler Murray will begin the season as QB1, and McCarthy will battle with Carson Wentz for QB2. The Vikings were apparently unwilling to move on from McCarthy.
