The Minnesota Vikings have now entered the top three in the latest power rankings following yet another victory, which now has this team at 5-0 heading into the bye.
The Minnesota Vikings were able to have another solid performance on Sunday, which led to their fifth consecutive victory this season, meaning that this team is off to a 5-0 start and is one of the three undefeated teams remaining.
As a result of the 5-0 start, the Vikings have received the recognition they deserve as the Bleacher Report NFL staff put together the Week 6 NFL Power Rankings, and in those rankings, Minnesota entered the top three as they were ranked No. 3 overall, trailing only the Kansas City Chiefs, who were at No. 2, and the San Francisco 49ers, who sit atop the rankings at No. 1.
During the Week 5 matchup against the New Orleans Saints, it was very apparent that the Vikings were significantly better offensively, as quarterback Kyler Murray was able to complete 80 percent of his passes, and running back Aaron Jones Sr. had one of his best games of the season as he ran the ball 25 times for 113 yards and one touchdown while averaging 4.5 yards per carry.
Focusing on Murray in particular, there is no question that having wide receiver Justin Jefferson back was a huge boost as the duo connected six times for 79 yards and a touchdown.
All that said, the Vikings had one of the their best performances on the offensive side so far this season, and if that continues this team has a great chance to win the NFC North.
On the defensive side, Minnesota was great as defensive coordinator Brian Flores once again crafted a brilliant game plan which resulted in the Vikings allowing 13 points, 142 total yards as well as sacking Saints' quarterback Tyler Shough once and hitting him a total of four times.
Throughout the start of the 2026 season, Flores' unit has been very impressive and is arguably the best defensive unit in the entire NFL and if they can continue to dominate, this defense could finish as the best unit in the league without a doubt.
Lastly, when it comes to the special teams unit, this was yet another performance where the Vikings' ability to operate was clean.
Once again, kicker Will Reichard was perfect as he went 3 of 3 on field goals and 2 of 2 on extra points and remained perfect for the year, which has been huge for this team. Additionally, punter Brett Thorson did a solid job, as he averaged 43.7 yards per punt on three punts.
In the return game, returner Myles Price was very impressive as he averaged 27.7 yards per return on three kick returns and averaged 28.5 yards per return on two punt returns with a long punt return of 43 yards.
When looking at the Vikings on special teams, it is very evident that this unit operates consistently and has the ability to put points on the board when needed as does a great job of managing field position which is huge and if this continues, the wins will very likely keep coming.
So, as the Vikings head into their Week 6 bye week, if this team can continue their consistent performance on offense, defense, and special teams, this is a roster that no question has the ability to continue winning games and quite possibly make a strong run for the NFC North title as well as a top-three seed in the playoffs when January does come around.
