The Minnesota Vikings have decided to elevate wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. from the practice squad to the active roster for the Week 5 matchup against the New Orleans Saints.

The Minnesota Vikings have a very intriguing matchup this week as they take on the New Orleans Saints on the road.

On that note, the Vikings have made one key roster move for this matchup against the Saints as Minnesota has elevated wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. from the practice squad to the active roster, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

This move does not come as a major surprise, as in the final injury report for this Week 5 matchup, the Vikings listed wide receiver Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison as questionable, meaning that Beckham could have a big role on Sunday. Jefferson and Addison are unable to play.

Earlier in the week, when the Vikings ended up signing Beckham, the move definitely caught some attention, but based on the injuries in the wide receiver room and the struggles that this Minnesota offense has had, it is clear that this move could really benefit the Vikings.

Heading into Sunday, it is going to be very interesting to watch whether or not Jefferson and Addison do play against the Saints because that could do a lot when it comes to how head coach Kevin O'Connell crafts his game plan.

If Jefferson and Addison are out, O'Connell will very likely have quarterback Kyler Murray target Beckham quite a bit as well as tight end T.J. Hockenson who had quite the performance in Week 4 against the Miami Dolphins.

As far as other receivers go, there has not been a ton of production, and in particular free agent addition Juan Jennings has not really been able to contribute and with that it will be worth watching if he can get going this week, or if his struggles continue.

On the other hand, if Jefferson and Addison do play and are ready to go, that will significantly change how O'Connel attacks the New Orleans defense as he will want to get Jefferson going early and may very well want to get the ball into Addison's hands as well to give confidence to his playmakers and also begin to establish a solid connection between Murray and his receiving threats.

In the scenario that Jefferson and Addison do play, it will be interesting to see what scenarios Beckham could contribute in, as he has the ability to play all over the field, and based on the talent of Jefferson and Addison, he would very likely face the third-best corner for the Saints, which he could definitely take advantage of.

So, heading into Sunday, it will be interesting to see if Jefferson and Addison play and what that means for the Vikings offense, but the one thing that is for certain is that Beckham will be active and is hoping to make a major impact.
