The Minnesota Vikings have released their first injury report ahead of the Week 4 matchup against the Miami Dolphins.
Heading into Week 4, the Minnesota Vikings are 3-0, and with that, they are one of the five undefeated teams left.
So far, the Vikings have looked solid on offense, defense, and special teams, and could get even better as the season progresses. With that said, getting healthy and staying healthy is going to be key for this team.
So, let's take a look at the first Week 4 injury report for the Vikings as they take on the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
The players on this injury report for Minnesota include linebacker Blake Cashman (elbow), cornerback Charles Demmings (hamstring), wide receiver Justin Jefferson (ankle), running back Aaron Jones Sr. (rest), and punter Brett Thorson (right hamstring).
All things considered, the Vikings are in a decent spot when it comes to injuries, especially because Jones was simply resting on Wednesday, so he should be in a good position to play on Sunday.
When it comes to Jefferson, he did not practice on Wednesday, but based on a recent update, it appears the ankle injury is not too severe and is a mild sprain as Jefferson does seem to have avoided a long-term injury. As a result, the hope is for Jefferson to be able to get the swelling down so he can get ready to play on Sunday. So, it will be interesting to monitor how Jefferson's ankle progresses throughout the week.
Next, looking at Cashman, he is working through an elbow injury and was limited in practice on Wednesday which may just be precautionary. However, it will be important to monitor how he does throughout the week, because if he is out on Sunday someone will have to step in as a starting linebacker.
The last player who did not practice on Wednesday was Thorson as he is dealing with a right hamstring strain. As a result of the injury, Thorson was out in Week 3 which had the Vikings sign punter Johnny Hekker to step in.
With Thorson out of practice on Wednesday, this is a situation to really pay attention to, as if he does not make good progress this week, Minnesota might have to rely on Hekker once again and elevate him from the practice squad.
The final player on the injury report is Demmings, who is working through a hamstring strain and did not practice on Wednesday. Head coach Kevin O'Connell did give an update on Demmings and said that Demmings will miss some time. It seems that O'Connell is not sure how much time it will be, but that is the latest. So, it will be interesting to watch how Demmings moves forward and whether it is long-term or short-term.
Overall, the Vikings do seem to be in a great spot when it comes to injuries, so it will be intriguing to see how everyone progresses, and in particular, if the Vikings will have Jefferson, Cashman, and Thorson on Sunday as Minnesota battles the Dolphins and hopes to advance to 4-0.
