Bills head coach gave a major update on his star quarterback's injury status ahead of the team's Week 18 final regular season game.
The Buffalo Bills will close out their regular season hosting the New York Jets in Week 18, and it’s a game that could have some playoff implications should the Bills win. If Buffalo is victorious, they could potentially move up to the fifth or sixth seed from sitting at seventh in the AFC. If either the Los Angeles Chargers or Houston Texans lose, the Bills move up one spot. If both lose, and Buffalo wins, they’re now the No. 5 seed.
Not only that, but the Bills will look to end the regular season on a high note after dropping their last game to the Philadelphia Eagles by a failed two-point conversion. During the game, star quarterback Josh Allen had a foot injury flare up again. He had been dealing with it for the last two weeks and has gotten multiple X-Rays on it. That left concern about his availability not just for the Week 18 game, but for the playoffs. Thankfully, Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott assuaged those fears in a radio appearance on Friday where he announced that Allen will be “good to go” against the Jets.
Here is the fully story from Bills Roundtable writer Mike Straw on the update for Allen and how it preserves the active streak he holds.
If Allen is good to go, it would mark his 135th consecutive start, which is the current longest active streak for a quarterback in the league. They would only have Mitchell Trubisky to turn to as their backup option, but it doesn’t seem he’ll be needed.
