The barrel racing standings race continues to tighten as Carlee Otero overtakes Hayle Gibson-Stillwell for the top spot.
In true late-season fashion, there’s been another shift at the top of the barrel racing world standings race. Carlee Otero has officially moved into the No. 1 spot with $182,831.96 earned so far after a successful summer run.
Otero has continued to build momentum through the final stretch of the regular season, including a recent win at the Gooding Pro Rodeo that added $7,432 to her season earnings. She has also picked up checks at the Golden Spike Rodeo, Douglas County Fair and Rodeo, and Gem State Stampede, helping push her just past Hayle Gibson-Stillwell.
Hayle Gibson-Stillwell now sits second with $182,604.68, trailing Otero by just $227.28. With some major rodeos still remaining before the September 30 deadline, including The Governor’s Cup, that lead could change again quickly.
Emily Beisel has also made a move, climbing to No. 3 with $175,493.75. Kassie Mowry, who held the No. 1 position for much of the season, has slipped to fourth with $166,951.84. Her season remains one of the most impressive, however, considering she has only competed at 23 rodeos this season.
Hailey Kinsel remains close behind at No. 5 with $165,933.78, while Sydney Graham holds sixth with $145,516.49. Michelle Alley is seventh with $143,334.39, followed by Tayla Moeykens at No. 8 with $129,845.38. Moeykens has also enjoyed a standout season, including a win at Cheyenne Frontier Days.
Megan McLeod-Sprague has steadily climbed the standings and now sits No. 9 with $110,375.21, followed by LaTricia Duke at No. 10 with $109,362.43.
Kathy Grimes has made one of the biggest recent moves after setting a new WPRA standard pattern record at the Cassia County Fair & Rodeo. The veteran barrel racer has vaulted to No. 11 with $108,140.73, putting herself firmly back in the NFR conversation.
Makenzie Mayes sits No. 12 with $107,196.05, while Tricia Aldridge is No. 13 with $106,165.94. Aldridge has continued to put together a standout season despite her stallion, Adios Pantalones, being sidelined with an injury. The duo has returned to competition and is making its comeback at the right time.
Katelyn Scott currently holds No. 14 with $102,381.17, while Lisa Lockhart rounds out the Top 15 at $100,232.45. An NFR qualification for Lockhart would mark a historic 20 consecutive qualifications.
