The Livingston Roundup sees amazing performances for the top Athletes in the PRCA Circuit, over 4 days in July, culminating with a big bang on the 4th. Fireworks were on the dirt and in the sky for another unforgettable event.
Livingston, Montana has one of the best Rodeos held over 4 days during the 4th of July festivities, the 102-year-old, Livingston Roundup Rodeo. This 4-day rodeo brings some of the best athletes from all events to compete for the win that concludes on the 4th of July in a sold-out, packed house venue.
Each competitor has one night to put it all on the line, and with each performance, there are many athletes and a ton of action. The format allows PRCA cowboys and cowgirls to perform at a few different rodeos to stack up wins and cash for the fight to make it to the NFR in December. Saturday, the 4th of July, was a perfect example of this, as many athletes competed at three different Rodeos: Red Lodge, MT; Cody, WY; and Livingston, MT. That's a lot of miles to try to build as many points and cash as possible in one day.
The kickoff for most events is always the Bareback Bronc, and this year Keenan Hayes of Colorado took home the win for Livingston with an impressive 89-point ride on “Little Big Man” by Silver Creek Rodeo for $6,451. 2nd place was a three-way tie between Orin Larsen, Cole Reiner, and Wyatt Warneke, each pocketing $3,655. 5th place was grabbed by Jacob Raine, while the current top Bareback Rider in the world, Jacob Lees, snatched the 6th place spot. 7th place was a tie between R.C. Landingham and Kelton Maxfield.
Keenan Hayes taking the win with 89 points. ©Joe TurnerThe Steer Wrestling crew was next to throw down and, in the end, Tristan Martin bulldogged his way to the top with a fast 3.8 seconds for $4,826. 2nd place went to Will Lummus at 4.1 sec and $4,258. 3rd place saw a three-way tie between Ty Bauerle, Chance Grill, and Riley Westhaver, 4.2 secs and $3,123 each. 6th was Ty Erickson at 4.3 secs and $2,271; 7th goes to Dane Haas at 4.4secs for $1,987; 8th was Curtis Cassidy, 4.7secs, $1,703. 9th place was a tie between Kolby Bignell and Tucker Ravenscroft with 4.8 secs and $1,277 each.
The Team Roping duos saw some dashed dreams but also some big wins, with 1st place going to Cash Duty/Trent Vaught with a 4.2-second performance, riding away with $5,383 each. 2nd is James Arviso/Levi Lord with 4.5 and $4,665; 3rd saw a tie, Kolton Schmidt/Paden Bray and Jhett Trenary/L.J. Yeahquo with 4.6 and $3,947 each; 5th place saw a 4-way tie between Corben Culley/Kaden Graves, Dawson Graham/Dillion Graham, Tee McLeod/Jake Edwards and Clay Smith/Coleby Payne all with 4.8 secs and $2,691 each. 9th place was also a tie between Shay Dixon Carroll/Jace Helton and Nelson Wyatt/Jonathan Torres at 4.9 seconds and $1,615 each.
Saddle Bronc is another fan favorite and did not disappoint, with some rank horses and amazing rides, but in the end, 1st place was ridden out by Logan Hay for 88.5 points on Triple B Rodeo Inc's “Bravo Brunson,” while banking $6,514. 2nd place saw a tie between Will Pollock and Tyrel Roberts at 87 points and $4,343 each; 4th went to Skinny Parsons, 86.5, $2,389, while Montana's Sage Newman earned 5th place at 86 points and $1,520; 6th place had a tie between Cooper Thatcher and Brody Wells at 85.5 points and $977 each. 8th place also had a tie between Tanner Butner and the impressive Statler Wright at 84.5 points and $326 each.
Tie-down Roping saw some great catches and fast work, and the one and only John Douch took first with some quick hands at 7.3 seconds and $5,781. 2nd place was a tie between Dillon Hahnkamp and Ty Harris at 7.5 secs and $4,818 each; 4th place was another tie among Beau Cooper, Lucas Potter, and Chet Weitz at 7.7 secs and $3,469 each. 7th place was Austin Hurlburt, 7.8 secs, $2,698; 8th place saw another tie between Joel Harris and Haven Meged, 7.9 secs and $2,120 each.
Barrel Racing is a fast, fun and exciting and these ladies really know how to work those horses who are some of the best athletes in the world regardless of the 4-legs and long flowing tails. 1st place was run down by Loralee Ward at 17.15 seconds taking home $7,973. 2nd place went to Heather Crowley at 17.17 secs and $6,378; while 3rd place was a tie between Kellie Jorgensen and Tayla Moeykens, 17.18 secs and $4,585 each. 5th place went to legend Lisa Lockhart with 17.24 secs and $3,189; 6th place to Kim Squires, 17.25 secs and $2,392. 7th was Lanita Peirce at 17.26 and $1,993; 8th was Raelin Jurgens at 17.28 and $1,794, while 9th place was a tie between Tricia Aldridge and Kailey Mitton at 17.42 and $1,495 each.
The night and the Rodeo concluded with Bull Riding before the 4th of July Fireworks, but needless to say, the Bull Riders were an amazing show of their own. The 4 days and the night ended with a great ride by 2nd-ranked in the world Noah Lee to take 1st place with 89 points on Bailey Pro Rodeo's “Cowboy Dreams,” taking to the bank $6,317. Hudson Bolton seized 2nd place with a beautiful 87.5 point ride and $4,843; 3rd place was Koby Jacobson, 86 points and $3,580; 4th place Billy Quillan, 85.5 points and $2,316; 5th place had a tie between Dawson Branton, Sage Kimzey and Braxton Whitesell all at 85 points and $1,123 each; 8th place also saw a tie with Nash Jones and Jake Lockwood, 83.5 points and $316 each.
After all the incredible performances, there was a fireworks show that will be hard to forget. All in all, it was another great 4th of July weekend in Livingston, Montana, that will be sure to pack the house again next year.
