The veteran barrel racer added another win to an already impressive late-season run in Plains, Montana.

The final stretch of the 2026 rodeo season continues to be a strong one for Kathy Grimes. After setting a new WPRA standard pattern record, Grimes picked up another win at the Sanders County Rodeo in Plains, Montana, stopping the clock in 16.86 seconds to collect $1,652.

Grimes’ win comes as she continues to build momentum heading into the final weeks of the regular season. She was followed by Shae Folsom, who finished second with a 17.02-second run, while Tayla Moeykens placed third with a 17.06. LaTricia Duke finished fourth with a 17.10, followed by Chalee Harms’s 17.16 and Tycie Phalen’s 17.17. Claire Kalafatic and Celie Salmond tied for seventh with 17.25, while Lisa Lockhart and Lily Hallett rounded out the Top 10.

Bull riding also delivered one of the rodeo’s most exciting events, with Josh Frost winning the event with a 92-point ride on Powder River Rodeo’s Moolah. Frost earned $7,689, helping his bid to stay within the Top 15. Qynn Andersen finished second with 86.5 points. Clayton Sellars scored 84.5 points for third, followed by Jace Trosclair with 84 points and Jake Gardner with 81.5 points.

In saddle bronc riding, Kade Bruno and Mitchell Story shared the top spot after each marked 88.5 points. Shorty Garrett finished third with 86.5 points, followed by Resistol Rookie Saddle Bronc Riding Leader Waitley Sharon with an 86. Trevar McAllister led the bareback riding with 83.5 points on Powder River Rodeo’s Shade Tree. Tilden Hooper placed second with 83 points, while Mason Stuller was third with an 82.5.

Cadee Williams won the breakaway roping with a 2.2-second run worth $2,063. Ella Moedl finished second with a 2.4, while Shaylee Berg, Tracey Bolich, and Hailey Burger tied for third with a set of 2.8-second runs.

No. 4-ranked Ty Erickson topped the steer wrestling leaderboard by half a second with a 3.4-second run, winning $1,854. Second place saw a tie between Casey Collins and Ryder Gaasch, who each stopped the clock in 3.9 seconds.

Dustin Bird and Jimmy Cole secured the team roping win with a 4.4-second run. Dillon Johnson and Cody Tew finished just behind with a 4.5, while Brayden Schmidt and Creed West rounded out the top three with a 4.7. Jade Gardner finished atop the tie-down roping field with a 9.9-second run, while Weston Hersel finished second with a 10.1.
