Martha Angelone qualified as the reigning PWR World Champion, while younger sister Sarah punched her ticket through the Last Chance Qualifier, giving the Angelone sisters a chance to compete together on one of breakaway roping's newest stages.

The opportunities for women in rodeo continue to grow, and this summer, two of breakaway roping's most recognizable names will be part of a historic moment for the sport.

Sisters Martha and Sarah Angelone have both secured spots in the inaugural Run For A Million Breakaway Roping Showcase, becoming part of the first group of athletes to compete in the groundbreaking event created through a partnership between The Run For A Million and Premier Women's Rodeo.

When the collaboration was first announced, it marked another significant step forward for breakaway roping. The showcase will bring some of the sport's top talent to one of the most prestigious events in the western performance horse industry, giving competitors another major stage with huge prize money.

Both Angelone sisters wanted their chance on this big stage and earned their qualifying spots through two different paths.

Martha Angelone secured her spot by winning the 2026 Premier Women's Rodeo World Championship Pro title. Already one of the most accomplished breakaway ropers in the sport, Martha added another major accomplishment to her résumé after claiming the championship and earning her invitation to Las Vegas.

The Virginia native is no stranger to making history. Martha captured the 2022 WPRA World Championship in breakaway roping and has established herself as one of the most consistent competitors in the game no matter where she goes. Whether competing at professional rodeos, major breakaway events, or in the team roping, she is always a force to be reckon with.

Sarah Angelone took a different route to Vegas.

Competing at the PWR Last Chance Qualifier Open Aggregate in Hamilton, Sarah earned her spot in the inaugural showcase by winning her way there. The qualification gave her the opportunity to join her sister in Las Vegas and compete against some of the best breakaway ropers in the world on this new exciting stage.

Like Martha, Sarah is no stranger to success. She has qualified for the National Finals Breakaway Roping and continues to establish herself as one of the sport's best ladies and horse trainers, too.

What makes the story even more special is where it all began.

Long before they were competing for world championships and qualifying for some of the biggest events in rodeo, the Angelone sisters were simply two girls from Virginia. Though they both now call Texas home, the Angelones proved that talent, determination, and hard work can come from anywhere.

Organizations like Premier Women's Rodeo (PWR) have created more opportunities than ever before for female athletes to compete for meaningful money, gain national exposure, and build professional careers within the sport. The inaugural Run For A Million Breakaway Roping Showcase is another example of that growth, bringing breakaway roping to a stage that has become one of the most influential events in the western industry.

As part of the inaugural event. Martha and Sarah Angelone will forever be part of the first chapter of what many hope becomes another major tradition in the sport of breakaway roping.

Huge thank you to PWR and The Run For A Million for putting together this event for the ladies of the breakaway. New opportunities arise every day for rodeo.
