The PWR is getting ready for the biggest weekend in womens rodeo. The Premier Womens Rodeo Championship Weekend will take place in Fort Worth Texas this May.

The Premier Women's Rodeo Championship is the biggest and richest weekend in women's rodeo. The 2026 edition has over $800,000 in total payout predicted.

May 14th and 15th, the best women's rodeo athletes will meet in Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas to compete for this huge payday, and the chance at some PWR World Titles. This event will take place during the PBR World Finals

What is PWR?

The Premier Womens Rodeo (PWR) was formerly known as the Women’s Rodeo Championships (WRC) and the Women’s Rodeo World Championship (WRWC). This is the richest women only rodeo event in the world.

This year, the PBR (Professional Bull Riders), announced the PWR as the new brand built to become the platform for women’s rodeo athletes worldwide.

The PWR uses a Virtual Rodeo Qualifier they call VRQ. Ladies can earn points and qualify from anywhere. This was created to remove the traditional barriers of travel and costs. Athletes compete in three divisions. There is the Pro, the Challenger, and the Limited. These division were made so that every girl had opportunities regardless of their level of compeition.

PWR covers all disciplines - Breakaway Roping, Barrel Racing, Team Roping, and Goat Tying.

How to Qualify for Finals?

The main goal of every lady competing in the PWR is to qualify for the Premier Womens Championship weekend. This is the largest paying women's event ever. So how exactly do you qualify?

The top 20 ladies on the season long leaderboard in each divison qualify. Nominations take place year round, and any event can be nominated. Points are racked up throughout, from all over the world, and then the best girls come together for the big paydays in Fort Worth.

There are also so fast track qualifying events throughout the year that get more girls qualified for this standout event. This May, the payouts and opportunities are once again bigger than ever.

Season Leaders

As the finals starts to get close, we are taking a look at who is going into the finals at the top of the leaderboards.

Breakaway

In the breakaway roping pro division, none other than Martha Angelone is leading the pack going into the finals. Martha is knows as the "jackpot queen," along with all of her rodeo accolades. If there is somewhere to rope, she is there every single time. Helping her cause, she nominates all of her stops far and wide for points towards the leaderboard. Martha is going into Fort Worth with a very impressive 41,875.5 points. Martha has a huge lead on the rest of the pack.

In the challenger, Kaitlyn Torres has 14,773.75 points to be on top going into the finals. Chloe King leads the limited leaderboard with 3,709.5 points.

Team Roping

In the team roping on the header side of things, Erica Krantz leads the pro division while Ashtyn Pratz leads the challenger leaderboard. On the heeling side, it is once again Kaitlyn Torres on top in the pros. Challenger leader is Shanna Perkins.

Barrels

The barrel race is just as tight of a race. Bella Skinner leads the pro ranks, Tatum Wight the challenger, and Katelyn Perkins the limited.

Goat Tying

The Goat Tying Showcase was an amazing addition to this event last year. The goat tying might be the tightest race of them all. Landry Haugen has the top spot in the leaderboard for now, but that is only separated by a single point.

All Around

An All Around title is given at the finals as well. Right now leading that all around race is Katelynn Torres. However, not far behind her is Martha Angelone. This will be a race until the end as well.

The Future of PWR

PWR continues to make more opportunities for ladies in the sport of rodeo. Recently they teamed up with the Run For the Million to put together a $50,000 breakaway showcase in Las Vegas. Run For the Million is a huge western industry event, and they have shown interest, and now dedicated time and money to the ladies with a rope.

PWR also has a Kimes Million Dollar leaderboard which is an opportunity for girls to qualify to that event via the VRQ qualifying format.

It is a great time to be a lady in rodeo! Opportunities are everywhere, and the PWR has a big part in that.

Stay tuned for more about the PWR and the Championship weekend this May!
