In recent days, Bayern Munich have been linked with several top centre-backs as it appears this is a position the German champions are looking to strengthen this summer. Two of those options appear to be in Serie A, with Juventus and Inter Milan poised for bids for both of their top defenders.

Yann Bisseck appears to be a name highly regarded within Bayern Munich circles. The German defender has just won Serie A with Inter Milan in the campaign just gone, but was rotated in and out of Cristian Chivu’s side. However, Bisseck has clearly made an impression when he has played. According to SPORT BILD, Bayern Munich’s interest in Yann Bisseck is serious, and Inter Milan would be open to offers starting at €40m. 

Furthermore, it has also been reported via Goal that he is keen on the move back to Germany, and would be open to the Bayern Munich project after he was surprisingly left out of Julian Nagelsmann’s German World Cup squad. However, Bisseck isn’t the only defender that Bayern Munich have been linked to from the Serie A.

Juventus defender Gleison Bremer is reportedly of interest to Bayern Munich as well. The Brazilian defender has been ever-present in the 2nd half of this season for Juventus, following an injury sustained in the first part of the campaign and at 29 years old, he is entering the peak of his career. 

His contract expires in 2029; however, there is a reported €58m release clause that is in effect, which could allow Bayern to avoid needing to negotiate with Juventus for Bremer’s signature. Despite this, Bremer is said to be happy to stay in Italy and stay at Juventus, with the aim of bringing the club back to the summit of Italian football, one of his main motivations behind that stance. 

This transfer would also be made further complicated to do, due to it being a World Cup year, meaning Bremer is away with the Brazil National Team, so arranging contract signing and medicals is that much more difficult during the World Cup.

Personally, I think that out of the two defenders named above, Yann Bisseck is the best fit for Bayern Munich. This is due to Bremer’s apparent reluctance to leave Juventus, as he is 29 years old, also meaning that you are unlikely to get what you paid for him back in any future sale. 

As well as this, the fact that Bisseck is a German international, younger than Bremer and has already won Serie A twice. A new challenge where he can properly challenge for the Champions League at Bayern Munich, and at the age of 25, there is potential resale value there for Bayern Munich as well. This seems like a deal that could suit both parties.
