With Kennet Eichhorn deemed too costly and set to head elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund turn their eyes to Argentina, where the factory-like production of young and talented players continues.
Borussia Dortmund are looking to make further additions to their midfield, following the departure of Julian Brandt. The aim is to try and add some young, energetic legs in the centre of midfield, alongside the likes of Jobe Bellingham and Felix Nmecha.
The club, alongside many other major European clubs, were interested in a deal for Kennet Eichhorn, but it seems that they deem the price not only for the player but also in agent fees and wages to be too much and not value for money. Therefore, they have begun to start looking around for an alternative, with one name catching the attention of not only Borussia Dortmund but clubs in England and elsewhere in Germany, Milton Delgado.
Milton Delgado is an Argentinian midfielder who currently plays for Boca Juniors and at the age of just 20 years old, has played 34 games since 2024, for one of the biggest sides in South America.

However, Borussia Dortmund would not be alone in wanting to sign this young hotshot midfielder, with clubs such as Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt, as well as Leeds United, Sunderland and Everton among the dozen clubs also chasing his signature.
Milton Delgado is contracted to Boca Juniors until 2029, with a price of around €12 million, reportedly the fee it would take to secure the transfer. Boca Juniors do not wish to stand in his way should he want to pursue a move over to European football this summer, as long as the fee they want is met by any interested club.
This deal would, if Borussia Dortmund were to succeed in completing it, be a significantly cheaper alternative to Kennet Eichhorn, who is reportedly valued at a €20 million package deal, including the transfer fee for his current club Hertha Berlin, as well as signing-on fees.
This has caused the likes of Bayern Munich to also pull out of the race to sign him, and with potentially the same or an even higher ceiling compared to the highly rated German midfielder, Borussia Dortmund signing Milton Delgado could prove to be a masterstroke in the future.

Milton Delgado ticks a lot of boxes for Borussia Dortmund, and it's clear to see why they may be keen on signing him. He is young, known for his energy and ability to dictate play from deep, and the reported transfer fee for him is quite reasonable, and definitely a fee that Borussia Dortmund have a history of paying for players of similar calibre.
The only issue that may be a hurdle for Borussia Dortmund will be the number of other clubs that are interested in Milton Delgado, not only in their own league, but also in clubs from the Premier League. So if this move comes down to financial power and pull, Dortmund may struggle to match the wages or fees that a Premier League side could pay, meaning they could end up in the same situation that they have found themselves in with Kennet Eichhorn.
