Yan Diomande’s ruthless Champions League cameo compounded RB Leipzig’s defensive woes, as the teenage star joined Konrad Laimer in haunting his former club during a devastating ten-goal collapse.

For the second time in less than a week, RB Leipzig have suffered a heavy defeat against a team featuring one of their former players. And once again, the player in question had little trouble enjoying the occasion.

After Konrad Laimer showed no sympathy during Bayern Munich's 6-1 victory over Leipzig on Saturday, Yan Diomande delivered another painful reminder of the club's former talent in Wednesday's 4-1 Champions League defeat against Real Madrid.

The Ivorian winger came off the bench to register a goal and an assist against his former teammates, before admitting that he had enjoyed the reunion.

"It wasn't weird to play against my former teammates. It was fun, actually."

Diomande said after the match.

Another Former Leipzig Player Celebrates Against His Old Club

Just days earlier, Laimer had made headlines following Bayern's emphatic victory over Leipzig.

The Austrian midfielder, who spent six years at the Red Bull Arena before joining Bayern in 2023, admitted that there was no room for sentiment when facing his former employers.

"At the end of the day, you don't feel any pity,"

Laimer explained.

Now Diomande has added another chapter to the Red Bulls' difficult week.

The 19-year-old joined Real Madrid during the summer after an outstanding season in Germany, during which he registered 13 goals and ten assists in 36 competitive appearances.

Wednesday marked his first meeting with Leipzig since the transfer, and he made an immediate impact after entering the match in the 70th minute.

Diomande first provided the assist for Kylian Mbappé's goal in the 83rd minute before scoring Madrid's fourth with a spectacular volley four minutes later.

Diomande Explains His Spectacular Goal And Leipzig Reunion

Speaking after the match, Diomande was delighted with his contribution.

"It's always important to win. That is our goal, and we achieved it tonight,"

He said.

The winger also explained the split-second decision behind his impressive finish.

"I had to decide whether to control the ball or take my chances with a volley. I'm glad the volley worked out like that."

Despite helping inflict another heavy defeat on Leipzig, Diomande insisted that meeting his former teammates had been a positive experience.

"Everybody was nice to me. I was the youngest when I was there, and it was really nice to see them again tonight."

His comments carried a different tone from Laimer's more ruthless assessment, but the outcome was similarly painful for the German side.

Leipzig's Difficult Week Highlights The Challenge Ahead

The two defeats have left Martín Demichelis facing serious questions about his team's defensive stability.

Leipzig has conceded ten goals across their last two matches, first against Bayern and then against Real Madrid.

There is also an uncomfortable irony in seeing two former Leipzig players celebrate victories against the club within the space of five days.

Laimer represents an established Bundesliga star who moved on to Bayern, while Diomande is a more recent departure whose development continues at one of Europe's biggest clubs.

For the German side, the challenge is ensuring that the players currently at the club can deliver performances capable of competing against such opponents.

Diomande, meanwhile, has already turned his attention to this weekend's El Clásico against Barcelona.

For Leipzig, there is no time to dwell on another painful reunion.
