The Norwegian winger silences transfer rumors linking him to AS Roma, reaffirming his commitment to the Bundesliga side as Marcel Schäfer prepares for a summer squad overhaul.
Antonio Nusa has directly addressed speculation surrounding his future at RB Leipzig, insisting that he has never asked to leave the club despite recent reports linking him with a move away this summer.
The Norwegian winger has been at the centre of transfer rumours in recent months, with reports from Italy suggesting that AS Roma have shown interest in signing him. However, speaking to Sky Sport Germany after returning from his summer break, Nusa made it clear that he remains focused on Leipzig.
“I never made any request to leave Leipzig.”
The 21-year-old also played down the wider speculation surrounding his situation, making it clear that he has not been actively considering a transfer.
“Rumours are always rumours, and they can write whatever they want. But I’ve just been relaxing on vacation, and now I’m here.”
Nusa's comments provide an important clarification at a time when Leipzig are expected to make significant changes to their squad. The Bundesliga club are currently prioritising departures, with several players potentially leaving before the transfer window closes as sporting director Marcel Schäfer works to reduce the size of the squad.
That context had fuelled further speculation over Nusa's future, particularly with interest reportedly emerging from abroad. Yet the winger's own position appears straightforward: he has not requested a transfer and has returned to Leipzig with the intention of continuing his career at the club.
Nusa joined Leipzig in 2024 and remains under contract until 2029, giving the German club a strong negotiating position should interest develop into a concrete offer.
His future could nevertheless remain an interesting storyline as the window progresses. Leipzig have already demonstrated that they are prepared to still make changes to their squad, particularly following the expected departure of Yan Diomande to Real Madrid. However, Nusa's latest comments suggest that the Norwegian does not currently view himself as part of that outgoing group.
In fact, following Diomande's departure, I personally expect Nusa to stay at Leipzig and play a much more important role next season. With one of the club's most influential attacking players leaving, there is now a significant opportunity for Nusa to step into a larger role and take on greater responsibility in the final third. His pace, creativity and ability to attack defenders could become particularly important as Leipzig look to replace a substantial portion of Diomande's attacking output.
For Nusa, this could therefore be the moment to turn his potential into consistency. Rather than seeing Diomande's departure as another reason to consider his own future, Leipzig could view it as an opportunity to give Nusa the platform to become one of the team's leading attacking players.
The winger will be hoping to build on his development since arriving from Club Brugge and establish himself as an increasingly important option under the club's new coaching regime. His pace, directness and ability to operate from either flank make him one of the more naturally gifted attacking players in Leipzig's squad.
Whether Roma or another club eventually tests Leipzig's resolve with a concrete proposal remains to be seen.
But for the moment, Nusa has delivered a clear message himself: he has not asked to leave RB Leipzig and remains focused on the club.
