Mikel Arteta’s side faces a significant winter hurdle as the German giants block all mid-season negotiations for their Norwegian star, despite rising interest from multiple Premier League rivals.

Arsenal may be ready to push again for Antonio Nusa in January. RB Leipzig has no intention of opening that door.

A report from The Sun claims Arsenal are leading the race for the 21-year-old and could revive their interest when the transfer window reopens. The report says a £34 million move was rejected in the summer and claims Leipzig are now demanding as much as £55 million for the Norwegian international.

However, we understand that Leipzig have not placed a price tag on Nusa.

More importantly, a January sale is not considered a possibility.

Sources have indicated to Roundtable that Leipzig has no intention of selling Nusa during the winter window and that the figures currently being reported should not be interpreted as an asking price set by the club.

Even an offer at the reported £55 million level would not change that position.

That distinction is important as speculation around Nusa continues to grow.

Arsenal are not the only Premier League club following him. Tottenham, Newcastle United and Aston Villa have also been linked, while several major European clubs have kept track of his development since long before his move from Club Brugge to Leipzig in 2024.

Interest in Nusa is therefore nothing new.

The suggestion that Leipzig are preparing to negotiate his departure in January is another matter entirely.

Nusa has started the season with three goals and two assists from six appearances and has become an increasingly important part of Martín Demichelis' attack.

After the considerable turnover in the attacking department of the German club during the summer, losing him halfway through the season is simply not part of the club's plans.

Nusa is also understood to be happy in Leipzig.

He addressed the constant transfer speculation earlier this season and made clear that he had never asked to leave the club. The Norwegian has instead spoken positively about his development under Demichelis and his responsibility within a young Roten Bullen side.

His contractual situation gives Leipzig even less reason to entertain a winter departure.

Nusa is tied to the club until 2029. There is no immediate contractual pressure to sell and, at 21, Leipzig still believes there is considerable room for both his sporting and market value to develop.

That does not mean a transfer will never become a discussion.

Leipzig's model has always involved developing elite young players and eventually allowing them to take the next step when the timing and financial conditions make sense. Nusa is attracting exactly the kind of attention the club expected when they signed him from Club Brugge.

But January is not viewed as that moment.

Arsenal can maintain their interest. Other Premier League clubs can continue watching. And speculation over what Nusa might eventually cost will inevitably continue as his performances improve.

For Leipzig, however, there is currently no £55 million asking price because there is no intention to negotiate a January sale in the first place.

Nusa is staying.
