The French defender remains professional despite his transfer request as Die Roten Bullen lower their asking price, inviting European giants to strike a deal before the deadline.

The situation surrounding Castello Lukeba's future at RB Leipzig is a topic worth following closely as the transfer window nears its end.

As per reports from Sky Sport Germany, an agreement was reached between Lukeba and Leipzig at the start of the window to consider transfer options. Lukeba, the French defender, has not wavered in his desire to depart this summer, and Leipzig is willing to entertain offers if they meet the criteria.

However, the notable shift lies in the revised valuation.

The previous €80 million release clause is no longer the focal point. Die Roten Bullen are now expected to entertain offers at a considerably reduced price, the exact figure contingent on incoming bids. In the event Lukeba remains with the club, his release clause is anticipated to drop to €65 million next summer, incentivizing potential suitors to engage in negotiations promptly.

This leaves the Bundesliga side in a nuanced position.

RBL signed Lukeba from Lyon for around €30 million in 2023 and quickly developed him into one of the Bundesliga's most promising young centre-backs. He has since made more than 100 appearances for Leipzig, and there is no indication of any breakdown in the relationship between the player and the club.

According to Philipp Hinze, Lukeba continues to conduct himself professionally and maintains a positive relationship with the club. His position is not one of forcing an exit or refusing to work with the club. Rather, there appears to be a mutual understanding between both sides that a transfer this summer could make sense if the right offer arrives.

The key question now is whether any club is prepared to meet Leipzig's new valuation.

Several major European clubs, including Premier League sides such as Manchester United and Arsenal, have been monitoring Lukeba. Earlier reports suggested Leipzig could consider offers in the region of €65-70 million, notably below his previous €80 million release clause.

Leipzig's own squad planning makes the decision even more complicated. Lukeba remains an important part of the defence, and losing him would further weaken a back line at a time when the club is focused on strengthening the attack following the sale of Yan Diomande. However, from a financial perspective, selling now could still make sense since Lukeba's value will not rise beyond the €65 million range next summer.

That is ultimately the calculation.

The Roten Bullen face a choice between keeping one of their most promising defenders for another season or cashing in on a substantial transfer fee while preserving their positive relationship with the player. Lukeba is open to a move, but Leipzig's position remains clear: they will not consider selling without an offer that meets their valuation. The door is open, but it will take a compelling proposal to push it wide open.
