Fresh off a six-goal thrashing of Frankfurt, Martín Demichelis challenges his squad to maintain their clinical intensity against PSV while weighing tactical rotations for the European stage.

RB Leipzig head coach Martín Demichelis has urged his players to prove that Saturday's spectacular 6-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt was more than a one-off performance as they prepare to face PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League.

Leipzig welcomes the Dutch champions to the Red Bull Arena on Tuesday evening for their first home match of this season's league phase, with kick-off scheduled for 21:00 CEST.

Christopher Nkunku's hat-trick against Frankfurt has lifted confidence around the club, but Demichelis is determined to ensure his side maintains the same intensity on the European stage.

"We've taken a step forward, but we can't get carried away. We have to build on that performance."

The Argentine explained during his pre-match press conference.

Demichelis Demands Another Statement Performance

Leipzig's emphatic victory over Frankfurt came at an important moment for Demichelis, whose team had struggled for consistency during the opening weeks of the campaign.

The result demonstrated the attacking potential within his squad, but PSV will provide a different challenge.

Demichelis expects an open contest between two teams that prefer to control possession and dictate the tempo.

He stressed that Die Roten Bullen must remain committed to their playing principles both with and without the ball, rather than allowing Saturday's result to create a false sense of security.

Playing at home could also prove important, with the coach highlighting the additional motivation provided by Leipzig's supporters.

For Demichelis, the objective is clear: reproduce the intensity and confidence shown against Frankfurt while demonstrating that the team's recent improvement is sustainable.

Two Or Three Changes Under Consideration

Despite Saturday's dominant performance, Demichelis has not ruled out adjusting his starting eleven.

The Leipzig coach revealed that he could make two or three changes against PSV to keep his squad fresh, although no final decisions have been made.

His approach reflects a preference for rotating when the team is performing well rather than reacting to individual mistakes after disappointing results.

That could create opportunities for players who have recently found themselves outside the starting lineup.

With Bayern Munich and Real Madrid also awaiting Leipzig in October, managing workloads will become increasingly important.

However, Demichelis made it clear that no player is guaranteed a place in the team.

Nusa Earns Huge Praise As Rômulo Impresses

Demichelis also reserved special praise for two attacking players whose contributions were overshadowed by Nkunku's hat-trick against Frankfurt.

The Red Bulls coach revealed that he personally congratulated Rômulo after the match, highlighting the Brazilian striker's exceptional work rate.

According to Demichelis, Rômulo covered more ground than any other player on the pitch, underlining his importance beyond goals and assists.

Antonio Nusa received an even stronger endorsement.

"In my opinion, he's one of the best wingers in Europe right now,"

Demichelis declared.

The Norwegian scored once and provided an assist against Frankfurt, continuing his impressive start to the campaign.

Goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt, meanwhile, emphasised the importance of the home crowd and confirmed that his full attention is on Leipzig following his recent international debut.

With confidence restored and several attacking players finding form, the German side approaches PSV with renewed belief.

But Demichelis knows that the real test is whether his side can turn one outstanding Bundesliga performance into sustained success.

From here the stage only gets bigger.
